Jeff Paterson on Canucks trading Garland for nothing, NHL Draft trades, Bear, Nick Taylor’s win

Jeff Paterson discusses the notion of the Canucks giving away a player like Conor Garland for next to nothing, the idea of the team pulling off a draft day blockbuster like they did in 2019 & 2021, and what the future holds for Ethan Bear after it was announced he’d likely need shoulder surgery after getting injured at the World Championship.

  1. Have you guys watch THGs Vancouver assessment of point %? We’re 28th all time!!! This franchise is a failure through and through. I knew it was tough being a Canucks fan but wow it’s much worse.

  2. I'd rather trade Garland for nothing that have to give up a pick or prospect for someone to take him or another high priced player. How many 1st rounders has this team thrown away in the last 10 years?

  3. Make a trade as the third team, Miller to Jets, PLD to team X and Vancover gets players and picks. Miller to Columbus also is possible

  4. Looking back at signing boesser is the wrong deal to look at! Look at bennings last trade taking on OEL and garland! Sorry Jeff that's a clown comment. oel and garland is a deal that will haunt this team way longer than bosser! Also why oel wanted to go to bruins or canucks both the cheapest owners in the league that won't do buy outs

  5. When I watch Connor Garland play I consistently see players from the other team spend extra energy to try to work on him, try to contain him and stop him from annoying them. But that is just how I see it.

  6. "Which contract should the Canucks pay a sweetener to get rid of ??" This is an irrelevant question because Vancouver is not in control here. Everything revolves around what player(s) the other teams are interested in. OEL is an albatross that cannot be moved. Tyler Myers @ $7 million next year is also a tough sell, even at one year. Boeser and Garland are the only two bad contracts that are in play and Vancouver will have to pay a price to do so.

  7. I'm convinced that Jim Benning always was (and still is) working for the Boston Bruins 🤬

  8. If they move garland the replacement is hoglander for sure! Right now I would just move garland for cap space him and Boeser

  9. VGK deserves to win it at home! Didn't always agree with the way they treated their players but nobody can argue that their ruthless & aggressive actions on getting the best players on the market has brought success & will win them the Stanley Cup in 2023!!!

  10. If Bjorkstrand got a 3rd and a 4th then I’d just take a draft pick for Garland just to make room for one of the younger wingers. Sad to see him go but not his fault.

  11. Garland's a decent player on a fair contract who can consistently put up 50pts…

  12. Honestly I wouldn't give a sweetener for someone to take Garland , Garland was a sweetener for the Canucks to take Oliver Eckmond Larson

  13. Any team can sign Michael Bunting for far less than Garland or Boeser are making

  14. Need to get something back for trading Garland. At least a second round pick
