Connor Hellebuyck hitting the trade market

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins Jay Onrait to share his thoughts on the Flames hiring Ryan Huska as head coach, Connor Hellebuyck informing the Jets he won’t sign an extension in Winnipeg, and what makes Russian prospect Matvei Michkov such a wild card heading into the NHL Draft.

  1. Could be interesting, but considering you have no volume I'll have to go elsewhere.

  2. The Jets will have a new look next season. Very exciting future in the Peg.

  3. It is pure stupidity for the Jets not to be interested in a rebuild. If you can't tell by now that this is a failed experiment with this core you never will. The asking price for PLD is much higher then it should be and it will be insane for Hellebuyck. Cheveldayoff is in the drivers seat for now on the demand but the longer this goes the less and less he will have that control. If the asking price is way too high teams would be far wiser to let the Jets lose him after this season and take their shot on the free market. I have seen rumors PLD thinks he is a 9 million dollar man per season. He isn't even worth 6.

  4. All these years and you still can’t pronounce Mangiapane! It’s pronounced Manjah- Pan-neh. For God sake get it right!

  5. Connor: I'm not resigning. "We understand."
Dubois: I'm letting management know I won't sign an extension, so maximize a return. "Scum!"

  6. for Hellebuyck, Winnipeg maybe get a couple of top four cover defensemen that also have some puck possession ability

  7. I some how wish the Avs could swindle a deal with the Jets for Hellebuyck. But it wouldn’t be for Draft Picks because Colorado dont have any draft picks and haven’t had any since we Drafted Makar.
We been trading all our Draft picks away. But damn he would make our squad solid as heck between the pipes. Even tho Georgiev had a decent yr. Francouz struggle to stay healthy most of the season last yr. It would not hurt this team One bit to acquire Connor Hellebuyck in my opinion.

  8. How about William Nylander and Ilya Samsonov for Pierre-Luc Dubois and Connor Hellebuyck? I'd make that trade any day. Sure you lose some offensive output by swapping Nylander for the much more physical Dubois but the goalie swap makes up for it in goal differential.
The current Winnipeg team affords them the luxury of adding a not very physical offensive star to their roster….and they are going to need a starting goalie.
How is this not a win win?

  9. Helly is old and won't stay at this level for long, just look at the last couple years, he falls off and has more bad games every year. Good time to get rid of him.

  10. Can the producers of this show start boosting the mics? I always have to crank the volume up when Craig speaks. Same with the host. When I watch Overdrive highlights on youtube, those guys speak nice and loud. Otherwise, thanks for posting these clips to youtube. I appreciate any hockey coverage I can get, even if it's too quiet.

  11. The writing was on the wall. Helle wanted to win a cup, and the Jets front office never built a good enough team in front of him to do it. They effectively wasted having one of the best goalies during his prime by not upgrading the defense or even giving him a decent back-up, leading him to be severely overworked. I hope he goes to a contender that has a good defensive structure.

  12. Helle payed his dues in Winnipeg. It's not against the city it's against the management. He's about to hit his prime he doesn't have time to rebuild.

  13. Does Winnipeg have any good prospect goalies? I hope they can replace him with someone that is decent

  14. Craig you are missing a very important point. Hellebuyck said he will not sign in the peg. So where is your leverage

  15. 1st
    Nylander
    Robertson

    To leafs

    Hellebuyck
    Logan Stanley
    3rd round pick 2024

  16. Edmonton would be perfect no disrespect to Campbell or Skinner but Edmonton needs a solid goalie to make a push in playoffs. Skinner can still play as backup but if Edmonton is serious about winning a cup this is your guy and this should be on Edmontons radar. But knowing the team they will try to run Skinner again and fail again.
