Peter Laviolette becomes the 37th head coach in New York Rangers’ history. After jettisoning Gallant, they were looking for an experience bench boss that was better at in-game adjustments. Do you think Laviolette’s defensive system will help propel the Rangers to the next level? Let me know your thoughts down below!

This is a hire that I'm not gonna hate. I don't love it, but let's hope they give him more rope than gallant and quinn.. in game adjustments I'm hoping he makes a difference. Rangers have been AWFUL when they needed to adjust on offense and defense.
I'm guessing it's a slight improvement on the defensive side, which was needed. As a Rangers fan, I'm not thrilled over a recycled coach, would've prefered Roy or Knoblauch to be given a chance, but we're all relieved it's not Hynes. I think it's the in-game adjustments that are the best part of selling his case, and to be fair, that old roster of the Caps team that ended up either banged up or getting traded at the deadline was an uphill battle to make it to the playoffs.
