Peter Laviolette is the new head coach of the New York Rangers!! First impressions of the hire!

Peter Laviolette, after arguably being the favorite to be the next head coach of the New York Rangers for some time, has indeed been tabbed by the Blueshirts! Why this is a solid yet incredibly play-it-safe hire. Looking at Laviolette’s track record, which includes three trips to the Stanley Cup Final with three different teams and a championship with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2005-06. Addressing the concerns that some Ranger fans may have with Laviolette. Acknowledging that seeing Laviolette coach the Rangers will require an adjustment period. After Gerard Gallant and David Quinn both got quick hooks, how long of a leash will and should Laviolette have? Episode 849.

  1. Slim pickens. He might be smarter and tougher than Gallant. Who knows. Your only as good as your GM and the garbage players he gets you

  2. I like Peter Laviolette, but, it's He's Coaching Kris Knablouch Style Team. They say He's OK at Developing Players. Let's See.

  3. I hope that if Kris Knablouch Goes To Another Team, We're Not Going To Be Regretting It, as We've Done with Sullivan & Ruff, in Not Giving Him A Try.

  4. And we’ll be right back here in two years. The team as a whole two years older and regressing, players traded for aging players and searching for a new coach. Dolan sends out another letter while Shesterkin joins Lundqvist as a wasted HOF goalie. Philly maybe where goalies go to die, the Rangers is where coaches go die.

  5. It's usually The Coach & The Players are Polar Opposites. Let's See what happens with Peter Laviolette, but, unless I'm Wrong, it might be Another Mismatch. Let me know what you think

  6. Were the Rangers REALLY waiting for Keefe? If so, wow. That would've been a worse hire than Gallant, Laviolette, or damn near anyone else.

  7. Feel like a safe hire, however, very disappointed they didn't give it a shot with Knoblauch. Feel like something needs to change with the way we continue to go through the same coaches as everyone else and getting the same results. And once again, we are wasting one of the best goaltenders in the league just like we did with Hank. There's gotta be something to change. But maybe I could be wrong and he could do great things, I just feel like it is very hard to change the results you've been getting for a 2 decade career overnight. I would have loved Knoblauch just for a change of pace, but again, Laviolette could (and I hope he does) prove me wrong. Either way, LGR!

  8. I'm glad we got him. You can't blame him for the Capitals. The Capitals wouldn't get rid of their core players even though they were getting old as shit. That's management's problem. I think he will bring more intensity too our team. He will make sure that the players play both ways. You have to play offense and defense. We have a lot of flashy players that only play one way and they try to make the pretty play. You have to grind shit out and he will make sure we play that way.

  9. At least he won a cup in this era. When was the last time we won one? I watched it. Way back in 1994. I'm embarrassed that we haven't won one since. It better not be another 54 years before we won another one.

  10. Mike Keenan who at 73 still has the motivation to Coach in the NHL. As Mike is committed to Coach Italy's Hockey team in 26 Olympics. Thirty years ago at this point Rangers hired Keenan. Think many would agree things worked out wonderfully well. Things could have worked out wonderfully well again as Keenan wanted very much to repeat the1994 success. There's a reason why Rangers have only one Cup in 83 years. Today Tuesday June 13 , the honor goes to Keenan. Because it was Keenan who passed on the opportunity of Coaching an Eric Lindros Flyers team, to Coach the Rangers in the Spring of 93. Today is about Keenan and no other Coach.

  11. It really was the only move. I’m not getting excited but I’m totally willing to give ‘em a shot
The personality make up of this team and their softness would be tough for any coach honestly. He’s got his work cut out got him that’s for sure
Quennville would’ve been perfect had it not been for all that stuff that went down in Chi but it did unfortunately.
Only other guy would be Sullivan
Outside of those 2 Lav is 3rd best so

Like I said he’s got his work cut out with this group
