Big Fants will cost big assets but I’m all for it

  2. Muter91

This just in: team wants higher draft pick.

  3. ghg1999

it would definitely cost one of Barron, Guhle or dach to move up to 4

not even sure what it would cost to move up to 2

  4. confidenceisKi

I would think the conversation would start at our 5th, Lane Hutson and another solid prospect like a Joshua Roy or Owen Beck

  5. RocketRousse

Man, what would it even cost to move to 2? If their goal is to draft Smith at 4 or 5, moving up to 2 is super interesting for me, buy it would probably cost us the 5th pick, the 31st pick, Guhle and another good prospect/young player though I don’t know who. Who’d fill that last spot do you guys think?

  6. DDDenver

Hey, it is what it is, life happens and I’m not really that mad.

But losing the draft lottery and having Florida go on a miracle run kind of sucks. In another world we get picks 1/2 and 16, and our rebuild is sling shot forward by a huge degree.

My hope is a 2017 Dallas level draft where we just make every pick a home run, as statistically unlikely that is.

  7. ChuckKiddman

I’ll believe it when I see it. The NHL draft in the top 5 is extremely protective of their picks unlike other sports

  8. BlazeOfGlory72

It’s almost funny how desperate we are not to draft Michkov.

  9. burnSMACKER

Would require at minimum Dach, 5OA, 31OA, and one prospect

  10. flepine44

    31st+Dvorak to Winnipeg for PLD

    PLD + 2024 1st for #3

We draft Carlsson and Michkov, PLD goes back to Columbus ya yeet

    /s

I think if the habs can wrestle the 11 pick from vancouver in a cap dump/us giving back cheap assets deal it would be much more likely as then 5+11 gets ypu pretty close to 2.

  12. id make anything not named Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield available if we could move up to #2

  13. This FO has so many leaks lol. I bet many GMs atleast make a phone call to gauge what it would cost.

  14. PaulWesterberg84

Why? To be sure Leonard/Dvorsky will be there? lol

  15. Baronleduc

If true, this is going to be an insane trade.

The cost? The 5th and 31th at least. I don’t want to know which players are going to Anaheim.

I don’t know what kind of players the Ducks are looking at our team, but I highly doubt it’s going to be Pitlick or Dvorak. I hope it’s not Dach or Slaf.

  16. Woullie_26

We are so scared of Michkov it’s not even funny

  17. WeimarStreetCrust

This is a waste of time.

Just make a pick at 5th and call it a day. Moving up is gonna be way to expensive for the team.

  18. RoboticAnatomy

If we end up getting #2 in exchange for #5, #31, a 2nd, and someone like Harris. I’d shit my pants. Fantilli would look *so* good in the Bleu blanc et rouge.

I know that trade is unrealistic, but anyone not named Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky, or Hutson, should be on the table.

  19. Sportsguy1223

Dach + 5+ Guhle? Idk. Probably not enough. There’s no way this happens

  20. Hughes really didn’t like losing the lottery!

  21. Habsfan_1984

Moving up to 2nd seems very difficult. Anaheim is much ahead of us in terms of their rebuild, would have no interest in any of our D prospects and who they would ask for isn’t worth moving.

If Smith is our guy and we want him at 4th I get that, and SJ is in the earlier stages in a rebuild so they could be interested in some of our picks and mid range prospects.

  22. ustanik

Hughes should ask for due diligence sake, but it’s kicking tires. Realistically, there’s no trade that makes sense for either team. Fantilli is already a Duck.

  23. Emi_Ibarazakiii

It’s fine to dream, but I think people hyping for this aren’t being realistic…

IF this trade happened I can guarantee that >80% of the Habs fans would scream in anger, soon as they see what we gave up.

There’s nothing that Anaheim would require, that Habs fans would be happy to give for it.

First, I don’t think we’re at the stage where we want to give our #5 pick and a bunch of other 1st, for this one…

But also, it’s highly unlikely they would accept that without an already established young player. And how many of those do we have? Better question yet, how many of those do we have, that we’re willing to give just to move up (on top of bunch of picks)? 0.

This is almost certainly not happening, and if it does happen, I’m pretty sure most fans won’t feel good about it.

It’s not a videogame trade, we won’t get it for Anderson and Florida’s pick.

  24. Habs_Apostle

I’m sure they’re just doing their due diligence, checking all their bases. It could still be 99% they’re settled on picking 5th, but just seeing what it would take to move up. Any rumour then gets blown up into “trying everything they can” for clicks.

  25. Smirnoffico

Remind me, what’s special about Fantilli? Never looked into him much

  26. Some of you are dreamers. Two things might get this done.

    1) Start with Suzuki or Caufield
    2) Guhle, 5th, Dach, Hutson+

Anaheim would only accept a huge overpayment and I don’t blame them. Probably not worth it for us. Just test your luck with the 5th boys.

  27. Wild_Flower11

The requests to move from 5th to 2nd would be huge imo not worth it. Seems a bit of a waste of time.

Pick 5th and pick well, thats all.
