The Edmonton Oilers media landscape took a huge blow today, along with the Oilers prospect pipeline. Let’s discuss a bizarre early Wednesday morning on day one of the NHL off-season in Edmonton! #EdmontonOilers #Oilers #NHL
I am in shock, what am I going to listen to in the mornings? I listen to Dustin and Erik in the morning then switch to Stauffer at noon and then Gregor afterwards. And sad for Philp he had good potential, wonder what reason is
I listened to an AM station called Cool 880 for music a couple decades ago. Then, around the time I started middle school it changed to an all news radio station called I News 880. I bounced around a couple FM radio stations playing songs pre-1990 before those stations changed to other stations that played more post-2010 songs. Now I listen to music videos here on YouTube.
I was worried when 630 CHED won the rights to do games for another few years. I'm sure Rogers (who own TSN and just bought Shaw and I'm sorry but THAT cost a pretty penny) is looking to minimize their expenses and target money makers. Hopefully the main "talent" behind what we love will find a new home but, for now, we have what we have.
In so far as Noah Philp goes he's a young man and made a choice. Look if he did more seasons at the AHL level it's a lot of travel and not a ton of money. If he looked realistically at his talent and prospects and he couldn't project himself as consistently making the NHL and being paid more than minimum he has a University Education. Who knows what opportunities that opens for him. Additionally, as the release said, he wants to be closer to friends and family. Perhaps he's also looking to settle down and travelling all the time makes that difficult. At Six Foot Three and about 200 pounds he has potential but he made a different choice. Ultimately I respect him making a difficult choice like this. Who knows what's in his future.

Well…. we don't have to hear Jameson bashing the team and fans at every given opportunity.

I don't think Philp was going to be an NHLer next year. Good luck to him.
