    Hellybuck's gunna want a lot of money when his contract is up next year.. not sure the leafs can fit that under the cap even with Nylander off the books unless they somehow move Murray or matthews leaves

    Hellebuyck (50% retained) & Schiefele (50% retained) FOR Holmberg, Knies, Niemela, Robertson, Murray, Boston's 2023 First, Toronto's 2024 First, NYI 2024 Third, Toronto's 2025 Third.
    Toronto needs to win now. Winnipeg needs young players who can step in now. Taking Nylander for a year doesn't cut it.
    Both teams give up a lot, both teams get a lot.

    Lots of interesting news.
    1. The best team won the Cup at the end….Vegas was simply too big, too fast, too deep, and less injured than the Panthers. Good on the Panthers on making it to the finals…..they just ran out of gas against a better team and their injuries really hurt them too.
    2. Writing was on the wall re: Spezza….when Dubas went to Pens, Spezza resigned quickly and it was just a matter of time before he ended up in Pittsburgh….good move for him too….. he'll get solid assistant GM experience there.

    I wouldn't even take Matthews for Hellebyuck straight up!!!

    They need to shake up the "core four!" They have had their time together and it hasn't worked. Make the necessary trades NOW while you can get a much better return. Otherwise it will be much of the same old, same old. They need to shed themselves of all the smaller less physical players to get size and truculence (Brian Burke quote) to get through the playoffs – a separate season, unto itself.
