  1. I don't know if anyone who isn't Canadian can quite grasp what impact these Olympics had, but I'll try to sum it.  I'll fail, but I'll try.

In order to understand this, you have to understand that I'm an historian.  If you had asked me what Canada was before these games, I'd have told you about the CN Tower, about the Peace Arch, about the Library of Parliament, about the Maple Leafs, about the Liberals, Conservatives, New Democrats, Greens, and the Bloc.  I'd have mentioned the Pacific Scandal, and the Great War.  I'd have spoken of John MacDonald, and Pierre Trudeau, and Kim Campbell.  I'd speak of hockey, of Timmy's and of poutine.  I'd have pointed to our ten beautiful provences and our three shining territories, and then, having pointed these all out, these and all the other things I could think of, I would look at you and say, "This is Canada."

Now, after Vancouver, when someone asks me what Canada is, I look at the people around me, smile, and tell them, very simply, "WE are Canada."

  2. Canada is perfect🥰 Montreal 1976. Calgary 1988. Vancouver 2010. I hope that one day Olympic will come to Canada again.

  3. Brian Williams can not be replaced. He was amazing at every Olympics, but especially the Vancouver games.

  4. Congrats Brian Williams on an incredible career! Truly the voice of these two weeks over a decade ago.

  5. As messed as our country is during these times this hits hard! I’ve never seen our country so united ! Chills and feels hard

  6. I can’t believe we are where we are right now… a Country divided more than ever, we need to be back as strong as 12 years ago

  7. I remember that gold medal game. I never sat down the whole time, just paced back and forth in front of the TV. My wife handed me my 9 month daughter for the 3rd period and into OT. When Crosby scored, I screamed so loud, she was terrified and almost started crying. I was finally able to sit down and relax and whisper in her ear, "we did it, we did it".

  8. Not sure why this song is not celebrated yearly!!!! True North Strong and Free👏👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  9. The greatest olympics ever. I remember being in Vancouver and the olympics just brought everyone together, truly special and magical. Forever etched in my memory

  10. Canada needs another event like this to unite the division we have had now more than ever.

  11. What a country we were back then, so much joy and pride. So sad to see what politicians have done to us, absolute shame. Here's to hoping we'll get back to the good days in the years to come.

  12. 12 years later and still a dagger in my heart when Bryan says;

“Believe it me, it not without some sadness, I say for the last time, good night from Vancouver”

May we repeat this feeling as Vancouver plans a bid for 2030 Winter Games ☺️

  13. 2010 was the best year of sports for me this and the Word cup in south africa; and the songs were so good all of them.
The 2010 olympic song was so good I thaught it was the official song of the olympics. I was 10 years old, It was my first olympic game and I was really disappointed it was not the official song of the olympics.

I remember it playing during the intermission… so good

  14. 22 years and this is not only still the best olympics but probably one of the best times in all of Canadian history.

  15. I don’t think we will ever get to see Brian Williams anymore after his last coverage of the CTV Olympics in 2012, ten years later… Williams is a icon.❤️🇨🇦

  16. for 2023, I wish for Canada and Canadians to relive the pride and joy that was so palpable in 2010!

  17. 12 years later, and still this song remains the single most powerful catalyst that brought everyone together.

  18. No disrespect mates, but out of love for Canada and Olympics sometimes fail than win, wish Canada did a little more to further push the record in Olympics and Para Games.

Oh well… At least Canada won in Ice Hockey (Men and Women, sadly not Para) which matters the most (Men Gold Medal game had me in tears :)).
