Good for him. Been grinding for awhile. Plays a very similar system to lalonde (who he’s worked with) which I think will help call ups and prospects transition to the wings with less of an adaptation period.

is set to announce their new head coach this morning (11 a.m. ET)

Hmm wonder who!
Not surprising. Grand Rapids needs someone who can get them back on the right track and Watson seems to very qualified for the role. Plus, with Cossa most likely going to GR next season, wouldn’t hurt to have some continuity in coaching for him in that regard.
Damn, this sucks for the Walleye. I know people were souring on him due to the playoff losses, but he brought one of the best stretches of hockey in Toledo history
Hopefully whoever else we grab keeps it going
As a Wings fan I’m glad for the org, but as a Walleye season ticket holder it’s definitely bittersweet. I’ll just have to come and visit him and Cossa next year in GR.
So glad to hear this news. Ben Simon was shit from the day he took over as HC. Really, really surprised that Yzerman put up with him doing such a shit job for so long.
What they wont tell you is I am the next Griffins coach but Watson is the public face.
But actually congrats, thats a good hire
