I’m sure this is just procedure and they’ll hammer something out before it happens. I hope.
This is just for us to try avoid paying his QO in the event we can’t work out an extension right?
Before anyone freaks out, they don’t need to go to arbitration and can make a deal before ever talking to the arbitrator

We couldn’t have a full day to enjoy the Bratt news before this storyline kicked in for anxiety huh (I’m hopeful they’ll get it sorted before it gets to that point but come onnnn)
If we had a different GM I would be worried that we’re about to nuke our relationship with Meier but that doesn’t really seem like Fitzgerald’s style.
Hopefully they come to an agreement before it reaches the arbitrator, but in any case I’ve got faith in the front office.
This is misleading. The devils filed team-elected arbitration. This does not mean they are 100% going to arbitration. Pretty typical move by any team and still gives them the ability to hammer out a contract

Bratt posted about his 8 year extension in jersey and Meier and hughes were the first devils to like it haha. I gotta believe Meier wants to be here for the long haul too.

No way Fitz made this deadline move with the intention of not getting a deal done. Only way it doesn’t happen is if Timo doesn’t want to be here, but he seemed pretty happy in his short short time here, and everyone in the league now knows we have a bright near future. We were the youngest team in the playoffs
I am not worried at all. We have time to get something figured out. This is strictly to avoid the QO. Getting Jesper under 8 was great work. Get Timo under 9 and we are cooking with gas.

Not a big deal, I think if he didn’t wanna extend we’d hear about it. Novozinsky is reporting that both sides are working towards a long term ext.
If Fitz gets it done under 9 mil then dam he’s a wizard, but idk I think it’s 9. With lots of signing bonuses and heavily frontloaded.
He’ll likely sign before it gets to an arbitrator. Simply a CYA move by the Devils org.

Arbitration has been filed. Basically this gives them another few weeks to negotiate a contract without having to sink $10M into a QO.
