ANDREAS ATHANASIOU TRADE TO EDMONTON OILERS FOR PICKS AND GAGNER (RED WINGS TRADE AGAIN: NHL TRADES)

The Detroit Red Wings have traded forward Andreas Athanasiou and forward Ryan Kuffner to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for two 2nd round picks and forward Sam Gagner. It’s the second Red Wings and Oilers trade in the past day.

  1. Forward Sam Gagner is also included in the deal, being sent with the 2nds from Edmonton to the Red Wings

  2. Loved this as a wings fan. AA's flashy talent is scary, but not a long-term piece and defensively a total ghost. Wings have 3 second round picks in this year's draft.

  3. Hate this trade tbh. 2nd rounds picks have a ~25% of playing a single game in the NHL… why give up a second line player capable of scoring 25 goals a season for that? I think AA will do great in EDM; Wings Fans will end up regretting this trade. (Also… why throw in Kuffner for nothing? Can't figure that out.)

  4. Athanasiou and Larkin haven't really played together in the last while FYI. Athanasiou would've had more points on Larkin's line, but it would've been worse for the team

  5. Double AA is still only a minor leaguer / I have watched him for the time here in Detroit / should have call him Flash/ in the pan. can't and won't play Defense. BYE AA

  6. Loving this trade but I don't think Athanasiou will end up on McDavid's wing. Carrying the puck is what McDavid does best. Maybe swap Yamo and AA.

  7. what I wrote that Athanasiou shows that Detroit and Edmonton made a mistake in not understanding AA's talent .. 3 games for kings and 3 goals..
