So the Coyotes lost… Now What?

UPDATE: This episode was recorded just before a statement was made by Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo on the team’s commitment to Arizona.

It’s post-election day and Robyn & Matt feel a little dejected on the state of the Arizona Coyotes. Do they have any potential ways to stay in Arizona? What would a realistic path look like? When is relocation in the cards?

  1. they used the magic word: "Billionaire". Kills everything immediately. People selected a toxic dump over "helping" a billionaire make a concert arena, a park, and a stadium.

  2. Who can trust this owner? He was almost locked out of Glendale because he didn’t pay taxes or whatever. His businesses are taking a dump since the pandemic. So taxpayers in Tempe, are supposed to believe this fairytale that he will pay for this complex.

  3. Dallas Stars fan here… liked and subscribed. I've seen Coyotes fans over the last week show up and be super passionate so I wanted to come support. I feel bad for the fans, the players, and everyone who works with, around, or for the team. I hope something miraculous happens and they stay put.

    Much love.

  4. Coyotes lost….but the taxpayers won. The practice of taxpayer dollars going to sports arenas, and corrupt owners, quite frankly, needs to stop. The people of Arizona have much more serious matters on their hands.

  5. Sell the team to Houston . The players deserve to play in a NHL arena and a full support

  6. … perspective from a Leafs fan;

    Tijuana Bullets
    Cuba Sugar Kings
    Sault City Quakers
    Nova Scotia Bluenosers headed by bluenoser Brad Marchand,
    … just a few suggestions is all.
    Seriously;
    It seems to me that Zona has said no to an owner w/ a casino licence that does not pay his bills on time so he can get a discount on the dollar amount owing later.

    Glendale had enough of the owner deliberately not paying up for a dollar discount for later payment. They've got his number otherwise, they would have let him stay!

    Zona has said no to a casino NHL franchise possible combination.
    … casino and NHL franchise combo is not an option and not acceptable in any way by any real hokey fan with a young family or not.

    There is nowhere for The Yotes to go in Zona!

    There are a lot of places that can take on an NHL franchise.

    Houston population 7M an NHL arena already built.

    Markham Ontario Canada population 7M new road plenty of land w/ huge tax incentives including The Pan AM games 2015 facilities, two major highway access and public transportation easy access.

    There are a lot of other prime locations as well.

    Good day

    The Yotes owner can make a huge profit selling the franchise $300M minimum!

  7. The fans WANT THE COYOTES; What we don't want is Alex Mararello! The fans have had enough lies! Move them to the METRO CENTER!!!! It's available! The former mall is being torn down. The light rail in going to go there. It's right off I-17.

  8. Although I think $2.3 billion is kinda steep, but if you have a year-round arena it could make the taxpayers money back in a few years, providing of course the Suns play there
