Before the New York Rangers, there was the New York Americans. When famous bootlegger, “Big Bill” Dwyer purchased a hockey club from Hamilton, Ontario, he moved them to New York. After a name change to the Americans, they played out of MSG in New York City. Just as all good mob stories, Dwyer got caught up with attempting to fix games, and it even put an Ottawa Senators life at risk!
