You think they are going to keep Scheifele? A guy who doesn't try or give his all,doesn't play D,makes excuses,and on next contract if he does choose to resign which I have no clue why he would is going to look like 7-8yrs at 8.5-9.5 million toxic
I don't think the market is there for Scheifele.
I think there is but not how Chevy wants it. I just think when the Jets look at it, they see an all-star every season. When the rest of the league looks it's a second line center and powerplay specialist.
The guys looking for the extra push to make the playoffs. And how long will Mark show up for a team on the edge? How long before he disagrees with the direction of coaching. They can deal in picks and prospects but roster players they'll want to hold onto.
The teams that are looking to load up for the cup. Does he possess anything that can help them in the playoffs? As soon as you make the playoffs less time and his offense isn't great when focused. And his defense is non existent unless he's engaged and how long will that last even in the playoffs? He can win faceoffs though. There so he's a faceoff expert that can be out for faceoffs and powerplay. Costing 7+ mil one year left…. 👍

So that leaves the guys looking to rebuild. And hey those roster players finally something Chevy can sink his strange retool on the fly teeth into; while changing out an entire core and a goalie that is the whole reason they are even relevant in conversation each year. Unfortunately these guys have been renting their players out for three to four seasons so actual quality players is suspect. But those teams go but we have guys at like 23.
So what's a Chevy to do, drop hints that the Jets are keeping Scheifele. Wait for hockey news or Athletic to pick them up. And in a week it'll be the market isn't right for Hellebuyck. Try again at the trade deadline. And we put a qualifying offer in for Dubois so see you in arbitration. Or Winnipeg gets to have a Nylander sit out.
