I’d like to see the Canucks move boeser now for a good dmen or 3rd line center with a lower cap hit, and then retain 1mil on Boesser if they really need to to get a trade done. Sure they could move garland without retaining salary but garland is more valuable to the Canucks than boesser, his all around game is better and with this team healthy I don’t see either player a lock for the top 6, and garland fits the bottom 6 role better, and can fill in when needed
They need pics now so we can have young guys on elc's to cover that dead cap space

I dont know what to think about this move . Oel had s bad contract but now his contract is going to hinder the canucks for even longer period of time . Sometimes the canucks are better just to take the medicine but often it leads to an even worse situation .

The pain Blake that I think you are referring to comes in years 3 and 4 with a cap hit around 4.7 million. You are still saving 2.5 million in those years because you would have been paying OEL 7.2. Years 5-8 they'll be paying him 2.1 a year but who cares. The cap will likely be pushing 95+ million by then.
