I think it's silly to not go over Hughes' cap hit, we all know Jack is probably underpaid at this point and would be going for $10M+ per year easily if he were negotiating a deal now. $8.5 is a solid number for Timo, he's a 3-time 30 goal scorer and only 26 and is coming off a 40 goal season, he deserves his payday.

I don't think the Devils are opposed to going over Jack's number for players that are of that value. But if everyone wants and gets 10mil we'd be in the same situation at Toronto. I think we'll get Timo at a fair number. I still can't believe Timo's agent is Claude Lemieux. I've been trying to wrap my head around that.
Anyway, I'd rather we trade Boqvist than Shar. I love that kid and Shar is excellent at getting rebounds which are left hanging way too often.
I've said before with V that the guys didn't play the best in front of him. I think he deserved some slack and Bratt and the other guys too not one guy over another. Learn, adapt, improve. That's what we should be looking for next season before making judgment.

I don't see this as an overpay. Bratt has great production. Plus he had us by the short and curlys because our wing depth is the weekest part of the squad, depth wise.
