lol Johansson was celebrating like he has just won a challenger or something..in today's term, this is like Youzhny or Haas winning a slam! can you imagine what their reaction would be?
Sassymui8, i wouldn't call Li Na a one hit wonder……..and besides, Thomas Johansson was a semi finalist at Wimbledon, quarter finalist at US Open, won a Masters series title, and Silver medal in Doubles @ Beijing w Aspelin.
2000-2003 was the dark ages of tennis, when just any player could win a slam, like here, or korda in 98 doped vs Rios, till the light appeared with Roger
I didn't see tennis back then, so… what can you tell me of Johansson? Was a player who could beat anyone in one particular day? (such as Verdasco, Gulbis, Fognini…?)
ToJo got an injury in the same year and missed 5 straight Grand Slams and hasn't played at all in 2003. Perhaps his career would've looked different if he was healthy. Still, another SF, 2 QFs and a Masters title are not bad.
Really well played by TJ. Go search ”Thomas Johansson story on the day he won” on the ATP channel. It is crazy!! Please tell your fam and friends who he was!! He is worth being remembered!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked Johansson and although he was always floating Top 20, Top 30 he was always an under-dog in my eyes so was pretty happy for him when he won here.
Thomas johansson.. Along with Gaston Gaudio, Petr Korda and Marin Cilic, one of the least likely GS champions you will ever see. I liked him though. Good player on the grass as well for such a small guy.
I don't appreciate the disrespect that is aimed towards Thomas Johansson here. He was an underdog who managed to win a slam, and that deserves respect. Regardless if Safin was hungover or not Johansson deserved the win, not to mention that he got all the way to the final.

after the last point, i thought he won the 1st round damn
0:32 haha
like playing air guitar–pretending you can actually see the ball…
What? The last shot was absolutely in!! Bad call
Increible, nunca mas gano nada este jugador..
Quienes mencionan esta final como una muestra de la "weak era", parece que se olvidan de la final de us open de Marin Cilic vs Kei Nishikori
At least Coria was injured when Gaudio won the French so this is the biggest shock of all time in a slam final. Safin was awful.

The last ball, the lob, was in. Totally in, didn't even caught the line. I guess that's when they knew they had to have the camera challenge.
Three russian escort girls for marat safin!
imposible que haya sido mejor el globo último de Safín en el match point. Una verguenza.
.
Losing to Johansson after beating Sampras and Haas is really bad…
Johansson got to the final without beating any top 20 player, easiest draw ever.

Last time in my life time I beleive, a countryman wins a Grand Slam. I am 40+, have another 40 years left
This guy outside of perhaps Gaston Gaudio HAD to be the winner of the most fluke grand slam champion of all time.
that last ball was clearly in , very , very in
I remember that match, I was so frustrated that Marat lost.

A player who won a Slam despite never getting into the top 5 in his entire Career. Its all about timing I guess.
every one can win a granslam, but to be number one, only few.

According to Daniel Koellerer Safin lost because he was drunk at the final
SAFIN WAS DRUNK
Like if you’re here after Koellerer’s interview . He said Marat played drunk this final .
safin, what was your preparation before match?

he was drunk ?

That music is so awful
Safin is a loser in this match.

Wow, I didn't remember that
If Agassi play at this tournament he wil win it for 4 time
I think that's Kournikova on the right at 00:31
One of the worst champions of GSs, like Gaudio and etc.
