  1. 9:33 No way he returns the 8th or 9th pick. Maybe the Caps at 8, but only if the GM is trying to win the cup next year. Everyone knows Debrincat wants out, he just produced at the worst clip over a full season, since his rookie year, and the draft is deep.

He might fetch a package with the Wings 17th pick, but that's about it.

  2. Great report Mike…..Draft is almost here and the rumours are flying, eh!!!!
    1. As I said in an earlier TSH podcast I would love to see Habs move up and get Fantilli. He is a beast and could be NHL-ready next season. He played very well at the recent Worlds winning the gold medal.
    2. PLD….man 'o man…..what a crazy situation. If the Kings can't sign him to a LT contract it is Habs or bust…geesh!!!!
    3. Vancouver is a MESS!!! It's going to take a few years to clean up the mess there and then they'll need to build around their young core and unload some of the big contracts….good luck.
    4. Michkov is too much of a risk….could get injured, sign longer in KHL…etc…..I wouldn't risk picking him….I sure as heck hope my beloved Habs don't pick him. Pick a talented player who'll play soon…not a player who may or may not play 2-3-4 years from now….of course Kirill "the thrill" is worth every penny and he came over as an older rookie……๐Ÿ˜

  3. Id say there is about 0.00001% chance a top 3 pick moves. San Jose maybe makes slightly more sense but Id wager they just take Smith at 4

  4. As a Blackhawks fan I'm really hoping we trade our 19th pick and move up potential from 8-12 after taking on bad contracts from other teams! If Michkov falls lower I'd be so happy if Blackhawks can get both Bedard and michkov

  5. if Montreal moves up they are giving up more then the florida pick or a 7th rounder ,ridiculous to think otherwise..

  6. Canucks are trying to fix the past . They will sacrifice their future . Next year they can try and fix this year.

  7. I hope the habs are not stuck taking michkov. That would be such a failure for them, on a year they really need a great player

  8. Montreal will pick 5th, and if Smith is gone, they'll pick Michkov. Please, LA, sign PLD. Why would Montreal want a quiter.

  9. What can the Habs offer to move up from #5 to #2, #3, or #4? The number #31 pick is not worth very much. Give the trade partner Montreal's 2024 #1 round pick, too?

  10. Canucks freed up 7-8 mill in cap with the OEL buyout. If they can move out more cap then so be it.

  11. I would like to see Hughes go after a draft pick from Vancouver and take some salary cap.PLD is NOT how we build a winner we do not want to push so hard to make the playoffs. The Habs have such bad luck if we become a true playoff team 2 years from now we will miss a chance to get Misa a really good upcoming young talent that at 16 is already a sound rounded player that scores more like a 18 yr old.Point being I want another good draft pick for two more years I want to see the Habs make as many trades as possible to get first round picks.

  12. The Blues are NOT spending the first top 10 pick they've had in 15 years on an expensive winger, which is the last thing they need. WRITE IT DOWN. How do you even figure they could afford such a thing under the cap???

Seriously, you need to let that one go. Not happening, buddy.

  13. There is also a high skilled small Russian D that is also signed until 2025.I wish I would hear a rumor the Habs go after Marchenko because I feel he is a much better choice than the rumored Mantha trade.I know I don't like players with a minus stat but he was a rookie on a bad team and he gets a lot of shots and shots is one of my favorite stats to look at.
I took another look at PLD and changed my mind a bit he was a plus 5 whiel thir leader Scheifle was a -16 that is a huge flip flop in stats.Sure mark has to play versus other teams best lines and PLD can play versus second lines but still if your a plus on a losing team you were doing something right.Having said that I am still worried another 9 mil contract would destroy our salary cap and we have several young talented players that by tiem we become a contender all those contracts will be up demanding a lot more money.

  14. I believe the cost for the Habs to move up to #2 would be excessive, plus why should the Ducks trade #2? Trading for #4 or making an arrangement with San Jose is more likely.
Hoping Hughes & Gorton can pull off a couple of shrewd deals to improve the club.

  15. What about Debrincat to Calgary for Ruzzika,Ritchey and a pick.Another option could be for Taylor Hall in Boston

  16. I guess there is a chance the Ducks trade their pick to move down…I just don't see it. Fantilli has almost as much upside as Bedard (in different ways) and I can't see the Ducks passing on that potential. Montreal would have to give up a ton for that to happen. Montreal should just accept that more than likely Michkov will fall in their lap. A bit of risk, sure, but in three years if they take him that risk goes away and they celebrate as he tears up the NHL.

  17. Habs won't win a Cup with Suzuki and Smith not good d not good at faceoffs, they would need size, gritt on the wings

  18. Canucks know they MUST draft a RD in this draft and with Pelican and Willander almost certainly available at 11th, they will get their man. However if every RD is taken by then, they will consider moving down in the draft. Not because of a salary dump, but because they need extra picks.

  19. I wouldn't doubt the Hawks and Vancouver swap 11 and 19 with the Hawks taking their salary dumps. Hawks general manager, already admitted they can't possibly use all of their picks they've stockpiled. They've got tons of picks this year, an extra first next, they're definitely moving up.

  20. The quality depth of this draft makes it difficult to mock. Imo, the wild card is Matthew Wood. Central scouting has him #4 in NA. I'm guessing there are teams who see him the same way. He could be the surprise who goes much higher than most mocks forecast.

  21. When are you just going to admit you were wrong about PLD and Montreal ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
