CANUCKS AND LEAFS TRADE (JOSH LEIVO TO CANUCKS / MICHAEL CARCONE TO LEAFS – Toronto Maple Leafs)

The Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs have finally done a trade! Instead of it being Gudbranson for Nylander or anything like that, they swap players of less value in Josh Leivo and Michael Carcone.

Hi. I’m legorocks99Gaming (Otherwise known as “legorocks99,” “LR99Gaming,” or simply “LR99”). An average teenager that posts video game commentaries on YouTube. 1. I like the deal. Someone with nhl experience vs. Someone that most likely will never play an nhl game. Sounds like a no brainer. I hope there is more to come.

  2. I always liked Leivo here in Toronto when I heard they signed Nylander I was hoping Ennis and Leivo wouldn't come out of the line up. I hope Leivo does good in Vancouver.

  3. If the leafs were smart. They should have but gauthier, lindholm And ennis, on the block instead of trading for carcone

  4. Im a Toronto fan and I have to say you guys are getting a great player. Leivo has bounced around between ahl and nhl, and he really deserves a full-time spot on the Leafs. I'm happy to see that Leivo will find a proper position on an NHL team. You guys will really enjoy him in Vancouver.

  5. I would have rather seen Gauthier moved, I don't see how much the Leafs actually saved cap wise by moving Leivo instead of Gauthier. Perhaps no one wanted Gauthier, at best he is a 4th line center.
I see Leivo on the third line in Vancouver.

  6. Man, I don't know what the Leafs were thinking here. They could've sent Hainsey, Leivo and maybe a 2 first rounders to VAN in hopes of getting back a defenseman like Tanev or Gudbranson.

  7. Josh Leivo has potential to a top 6 winger (at the very worst a really good 3rd line winger) and they gave him away for nothing. I've seen clips of Carcone on youtube & wasn't impressed, he has the skillset of like Hyman or Brown. Leivo has natural offensive instincts plus he has very good shot that's dangerous from the top of the circle, and some decent play making skills, very strong on the boards, can overpower defenders, and wins many puck battles. Weakness, are very limited puck handling, dangling ability, skating a bit slow for new NHL.

I'm super salty about this trade. I wish Dubas traded Hyman & Brown because stubborn Babcock have them way too high in the lineup & are easily replaceable by likes of Johnsson, Moore, Grundstrom, Engvall. Merry friggen Christmas Vancouver!

  8. Josh leivo is 25 and wouldn't be a ppg in the ahl where as Carcone is 22 progressing like crazy and is closing in on a ppg in the ahl right now…. I would have liked to see Carcone called instead. This is a trade for a team that needs some extra depth for a cup run, this is not a trade for a rebuilding team, and yet we made it anyways. I'm not happy, but i hope it works out, I hope Leivo steps it up.

  9. The Leafs are going to miss Leivo if they make the playoffs. Grit and strong on the puck are skills in short supply on this team.

  10. Carcone will most likely play his whole career in the AHL. Any canucks fan this is mad about this needs to give his head a shake. Canucks got a guy who hasn't been given the ice time in the nhl to succeed usually only averaging about 9 minutes per game. This is a good deal by Benning as it's highly unlikely carcone will do anything besides help out the Marlies.

  11. Leafs wanted the NHL roster spot to be cleared for Nylander. If Carcone becomes anything they are thrilled.

  12. The Marlies aren't terribly good now. They aren't hot trash but they aren't the team they were last year.

Vancouver definitely won this trade, it's just a question by how much. The Leafs knew they were going to lose trading away Leivo, but they were forced make a trade since Nylander puts them over the allowed roster spots. TBH there are a couple of players I'd rather have seen traded instead, but maybe they felt Leivo was the trade that got something in return.

  13. I cringe every time I hear the pronounciation LEE-vo, since his name is Finnish and it should be pronounced LAY-vo.
