Shit was off the hook! Fuck all the people saying nobody came out for our party.

They passed the cup into the crowd? That’s a risky play!

Non-Vegas residents will never get how much the Knights truly mean to the city. And no I’m not going to opine on “1 October Shooting” although that definitely intertwined VGK with the community.
Being in Vegas can be summed up with the Yogi Berra-esque comment that it’s “a big city and a small town.” Vegas is home to the strip with each resort having a ton of guests but beyond that there’s just Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. The longest trip from opposite ends will take no more than 40 minutes. Also Vegas is very cliquish, people know each other connections are really important here.
One thing that was missing about Vegas was that there wasn’t pro sports here beyond the UNLV Rebels and the Tarkanian era was way before my time. What’s great about sports is that it just gives you commonality with your neighbors, even if it’s just small talk giving your thoughts on a team is just a fun icebreaker.
The Knights came here first, the Knights continue to excel at being part of the community. Despite playing on the strip (a place locals once always avoided unless they work there!) they’ve done wonderful job feeling like they’re apart of Vegas.
I love this city and I love this team. Desert Hockey it didn’t make sense, neither did building a giant tourist trap in the desert but here we are! I always had big dreams for the success of the team but I never imagined so many locals would spend their Saturday night to see the parade!
A lot of skeptics have now moved to the opinion that in a few years when the team has to rebuild this audience will fade out as fairweather fans do. But I know one thing the Golden Knights will always be special to me. Now that I’m lamenting that I didn’t skip work to attend a parade proves that to me. The introverted part of brain decided not to even try because I didn’t want to be stuck in hot weather in a giant crowd of people but I would have loved to have been there when Karlsson gave his amazing drunk speech.

Born and raised in Toronto as a Leafs fan. I was lucky enough to catch the first Leafs / Golden Knights game back in 2017. After that, Vegas become my second team. A very close buddy of mine moved to Vegas and said itās a hockey town for sure

Hockey fans will try to tell you with a straight face that a quarter million people will go to a Stanley cup parade for a team they arenāt fans of

To me, youāre not a hockey town until your town produces players. Thatās just how I feel.
When I see a league with a fair share of players from Nevada, then weāll talk.
