[Jonny Lazarus] Hearing a rumor that former Islanders captain, Michael Peca, might be joining Peter Laviolette’s staff with the NY Rangers. He worked with the Capitals in ‘20-21 doing Player Development and spent the last 2 seasons as an AHL Assistant Coach with the Rochester Americans.

I really hope this doesn’t interfere with Mika consistently winning 40% of his faceoffs.

  2. this would be interesting if true. Peca primarily coached the offense in Rochester and their prospects have developed nicely there. he also would be a fresh coach alongside Laviolette on the bench (as he was never an assistant under him), although, as mentioned in the tweet, he did serve in player development under Laviolette for Washington’s taxi squad in 2020-21 which wasn’t great.

will have to look into this more

Let’s hope Peca can teach Mika a thing or two about winning faceoffs!
