hi Trevor I'm still in shock oel was bought out too congrats to your son on graduating my brother graduates high school this year honestly year 3 and 4 scares me with the 4 mil they owe him those 2 years which will impact us signing free agents and I believe d petey is going to spend next season in Sweden I believe the canucks loaned him to a shl team
I'm surprised that Francesco allowed the buy-out. But we need it. This give the Canucks the flexibility to either sign some depth. Or have the money to pay a player they trade for.

I was surprised with the news, but I have one reservation. I wasn't aware of OEL's foot injury/surgery last summer. If that is the reason why he played so poorly this past year then I would expect him to play better this season. We'll see, but if he does improve his play – possibly significantly – then I wonder if he could be tradeable in that alternate universe? I never would have expected Karlsson to play as well as he did this past season – I thought he was washed up. I just wonder if OEL had it in him to return to his best form. But I'm glad overall it's done.

UFAs usually demand an over payment, not really interested. So why not make whatever internal signings we need to make then take the remainder to trade for an expiring bad contract and take the sweetner picks. Cap strapped teams are desperate to unload right now and we can probably can demand a good sweetner picks or maybe prospects. No?

OEL came back from injury at the worlds. He played in front of AHL calibre goalies. He was saddled with the Giraffe many nights. Allvin and the Chipmunks painted themselves in cap hell because they can't control themselves. OEL would be serviceable on the second pair. Overpaid,sure. This is all on the current management and their incompetence.

I can see the Canucks making a move for Fabbro or Hanifin. They have the assets to acquire both. The buyout completely changed the outlook of this offseason.
You can say what you want but at least allvin rutherford has not made any stupid contract so far. You could discuss JT but at least he is still good which is the difference to king Loui and OEL that wasnt good at all after they came to canucks. Im just hoping hronek will play like a top2 defenceman and stay healthy i think there is 3 mil for 3C and 3 mil for a 3D
Why can’t the Canucks take a Gap year in giving the newer prospects in the AHL a chance to show what they can achieve and not spend all the OEL buyout money like a drunken sailor.

I still think they should've placed him on waivers and pit him in Abbotsford. I believe he would've retired. Benning should've been fired before he did this trade to totally screw this team. A has been is a has been.
Next, they hang tough for a year, then Myers $6M is gone. Then they can extend Petty and make some real moves.
