Rumour has it that the Red Wings are really leaning towards Saginaw Spirit forward Cole Perfetti, and that the Ottawa Senators could potentially target Lucas Raymond at 5th.

  1. Seeing that Draper is also part owner of Saginaw, he probably saw 70-80% of perfettis games this year.

  2. Many thanks Lego for another great Wings video!! For what it's worth here's my thoughts on this one, I make no secret that I really like Lucas Raymond for Detroit. However we need Centers, so Rossi and Perfetti are very much in the frame. In this situation Detroit would be mad not to trade back IMHO. I've also heard Jake Sanderson's name in the frame and if that's the case then a trade back is vital. I'd be actively looking at either Ottawa's pick at 5 or more likely Anaheim's at 6. Ottawa currently have 4 second round picks plus at least 2 thirds, Anaheim has 31 plus 36 & 67. I'd be looking for at least another second round pick, ideally either Ottawa's 33 or Anaheim's 36 plus a third round pick as a starting point. A bit of smoke and mirrors about our intentions, particularly if one of these teams are high on Drysdale could go a long way in swaying things in our favour. I'm not against drafting any of the guys who've been mooted for us at 4 (except Askarov, definitely not a top 5 pick IMHO) but if we're not able to draft Steutzle or Byfield and aren't going with Rossi, Perfetti or Raymond I'd much prefer to move back and have another crack at the second round to properly load up this draft…….

  3. I don’t know about y’all but I prefer the info overlay video rather than just the pure NHL 2020 EA

  4. As sens fan i say we obviously take stuzzle or Byfield at 3 depending which one is available and with the fift pick I say we go with either Raymond or Drysdale, if we take Raymond our forward coat going forward would be really good with guys like (Byfield/stuzzle) tkachuk, Raymond potentials on the first line and other good players like duclair, batherson, Norris, white, forementon etc… to fill out our middle six. Let’s say we pick drysdale at 5 then that makes for a unreal young d core with guys like chabot, brannstrom, Thompson, jbd, Drysdale, wholanin, Jaros etc … so if we pick one of these two guys at 5 it’s a win win no matter which we choose

  5. At this point I want Perfetti but not expecting anything. There was the Q Hughes connection cause of Larkin and Blashill and that wasn’t to be. Maybe we’ll hear more plausible leaks closer to the draft like Seider last year

  6. I think Ottowa should gon for Raymond. I mean, the last two players they drafted from Frölunda was Alfredsson and Karlsson, just sayin

  7. Perfetti needs to learn to skate at a much higher level to pull off some of the elusive dekes he skinned guys with in juniors. Watching him play, so many of his dekes you can safely say "yeah that would never work in the NHL".

I want Rossi more than anyone. I'd be fine with Dysdale or Raymond. Id be disappointed if Perfetti were the pick.

  8. Sens fan here I think Tkachuk on the left, Byfield at centre, and Raymond on right could be nasty and may even be reminiscent of the Spezza Heatley Alfie line that terrorised the league in 07

  9. Any chance of Ottawa picking Marco Rossi at pick #3 and Jack Quinn at pick #5??? I know that sounds highly unlikely. Just throwing it out there. Marco Rossi is one of the best playmakers in the draft, and Jack Quinn is one of the best goalscorer in the draft. It sorta makes sense to me.

  10. Perfetti is a quality type bust worthy pick with so much to work with his……..

    a. Skating, not moving his skates, coasting down towards the net, getting caught flatfooted, and generating transitional speed.

    b. Back-checking (see a.) board work (see a)

    c. camping out when he does not have the puck / not exploiting gaps in opponents defensive coverage to stretch opponents defense.

    c. Situation awareness when entering the offensive zone and during buildup of offensive plays,

I am at the point where we went from anticipating the top 3 talents, to now not even wanting to draft in the top 10.

We really got shafted bad in Bettmann's twisting of the lottery rules (by the way that are set in stone). What a turn of events.

  11. If Sens got Stutzle/Byfield and Raymond, I see that as an absolute win.

  12. As a wings fan I hope they go with defense here. Perfetti and Rossi are undersized. That was more a Holland thing than Yzerman (hopefully).

  13. The consensus on Sens Twitter for the dream draft seems to be Byfield/Raymond, followed by Byfield/Rossi and a few people are hoping for Byfield/Drysdale

  14. Rossi reminds me more of Braden Point than Perfetti, but I think his game is more similar to Marchand actually.

  15. I remember Draper Being asked if they would be interested in drafting Kirby Dach. He said he won’t drop to us, even though many mocks had him falling to the Wings. Hoping that means he can really tell who “has it and who doesn’t.” Dach does look the part in his defense!

  16. Coming from someone who gets to see Cole perfetti play every weekend for Saginaw if the Red Wings draft him I am dropping everything I'm doing and buying his jersey

  17. I want BYFIELD available at 3 drafted by my Sens and I'd prefer Raymond over Drysdale or Rossi. Byfield is elite young raw talent in a 6 ft 4 frame. Stutzle is older and a bit faster and for now more dynamic offensively….but my big question with him is if he can become a 1c at the nhl level. Seems more likely a 1Lw. We need the center solved in the future by this pick #3.

That said I am not high on Rossi, would not be shocked if him being one of the oldest in this draft is helping him big time this season and hes SHORT even by today's nhl standards so me thinks he also likely ends up LW. How many 1c or 2c in this league and 5 ft 9 or under? One. I dont like those odds.

Raymond keeps getting compared to Mitch Marner. Of the 3, Raymond has the highest ceiling over Drysdale or Rossi.

  18. i stilll think they take a defensmen, drydale or another magic hat defense prospect, of course if Stutzle is there at 4 …how can you resist?

  19. Raymond has been a no brainer for the senators over another defense man or center for this particular draft, to me the only other choice would be going offensively gifted shooter like a Holtz. Defense prospects currently in the system on both left and right don't create a need for another young guy but a older seasoned vet to guide them, also throw into the mix next years crop of defensive prospects and they can wait a year. As for the player like Rossi being linked to the 5th pick I don't see it because of how Brown and Norris have developed. Norris may have the shiny new player feel with great stats but Brown not only played with lesser wingers he put up stupid good numbers and he's 6'6". If Ottawa doesn't give Brown some wingers and an actual good shot at #2 line minutes we will be seeing him leave the organization soon. So all in all Ottawa has need for the #1 center which they will get out of #3 overall and they need that prolific shot which they have to address at #5, the rest can be addressed within the system and 3year overpriced contracts for a few vets to give experience to the prospects. The only other thing I could imagine is putting out there is something along the lines of the 5th, Isles pick and something for the #2 pick or 3rd, isles and a package for the 1st.

  20. Perfetti is not a top 5 pick and I'm sure Stevie sees that you could trade back to the 12-15th pick and still grab him if he's going to go that route

  21. i mean, whoever the Sens take at 5 largely depends on which player they get at 3 I think. Even though Stutzle can play center, I get the impression a lot of Senators people maybe don't view him as playing alot in that position. So I think if we get Stutzle, it'll be him and Rossi. If it's Byfield, I have a feeling it'll be Raymond or Drysdale. That all being said, as a Sens fan, I don't think there's a pick they can make that would upset me, mainly cuz I've got more confidence in their ability to assess these players in relation to their own needs than my armchair opinion.

  22. There's rumours Ottawa is willing to offer 3 and 5 for 1 a clear lose for get this sens fans so Melnyk can sell more tickets with the popular French Canadian player. If that happens I'm done with Ottawa done with them wasting my time and effort, thats the last straw. I know sens fans who know hockey over 90% would agree. I havent seen one comment from youtube videos of a sens fan willing to do trade 3 and 5 for 1. I honestly they rather take Sanderson as 5 who I don't want than them trading 3 and 5 for 1.

  23. I still think the wings need take the Russian Goalie I know its a reach but we need a Goalie of the future. But they can go so many ways. We should get a good player no matter what

  24. thats fine, but being a family friend is not a lock for the detroit pick. if they think perfetti is the best player available then by all means snag him up. they did a great job with seider last year at a position of need.

  25. yzerman took sieder….everyone, thought(wow), couldve traded down…i think, he knows talent ….i dont see the redwings signing any free agents…..my pick at #4 would be lucas raymond…but thats, me

  26. I think OTT going Raymond at # 5 would be the correct move. They love there Frolunda players (Erik Karlsson/Alfredsson). I think OTT is missing a big minute eating RD D-man. Theres a really good group of 4-6 of them in next years draft, I would wait until then to get one. I don't think Drysdale fits the bill as hes more comparable to Brannstrom which we really don't need right now. Had Sanderson been a RD, I think OTT would be all over him.

  27. Perfetti to Detroit is going to happen and I am so here for it. Perfect fit for our system and what we want/need.

  28. After watching a lot of cole perfetti highlights I kind of want him in LA imagine a line of Perfetti Turcotte and kaliyev that would be so nice
