I’m a VGK fan. By far our toughest series was the Edmonton bout. Putting a player like Toews on the 4th line would bring in some much needed depth… it would certainly be an interesting signing.

As I have said many many times about the Oilers, THIS is not your answer. I mean, seriously…all this effort should be made into a search for a Goalie that can take you on a deep run. I highly doubt you need more offensive fire power, which you are totally unsure you would get with Toews

I was actually nervous when I saw Edmonton matched with Chicago. Only because everyone and their mom was saying Oilers sweep easy. I’ve learned to trust the pit feeling in my stomach I had that just before this matchup started and well I was right. Had the same pit feeling when they played Winnipeg too.
they dont need a 4th line centre they need a solid defense core and a goalie who doesn't fall apart in the playoffs.

I think they already have the offense they need lol. When in order for the Oilers to win a game by two goals and the final score is 7-5, I think it is pretty obvious that what they are lacking is goaltending and defense. Having said all that, it would be sweet seeing Jonathan get one last crown by helping the Oil to their first since ‘90!
No one loses to "leadership and experience." You lose to better teams. Toews has nothing left. Have you watched hockey this year?
Put Toews in against Vegas. Is he stopping pucks? Are they winning? No. And no.
He'd probably bring the team up another level, sure. But we all know that the real missing piece is goaltending.

Toews is a guy from Manitoba with a French mother from Beauce (Qc) (he, himself speaks a very good French) he would be a perfect fit for Edmonton. He would definitely feel at home. He should definitely sign with Edmonton for 1M$ for next season, his leadership would be so beneficial for the Oilers.
I definitely believe that it's the kind of challenge Toews would love to have at the end of his career.
He’s not washed. He aha his own health problems but he comes on the ice and looks the same he isn’t a 4th line centre. 15 goals and 31 points in 50 games is about what he would get even back than. Led the league in faceoff %. If he stays healthy he will get 50,60 points.

It would be the Ken Holland thing to do. Toews is also a shit human with the way he handled the Beach situation fallout and wouldn't want him near this team. But if Holland is going to add him, it should only be after getting a guy like Pesce and Konecny.
If Eric Staal can contribute in florida then toews can contribute in edmonton..
Ok. I agree with this one for the most part. Jonathan Toews could go even higher than a 4c for Edmonton, as I could see him being a 3c for the oilers. The only issue is if the oilers don’t win the cup exactly next year. Which saying they need to be the best hockey team ever is pretty high standards. But Draisatil might not get paid what he wants to if they don’t win next year and leave. Then it’s really done for Toews and he won’t be winning again. I guess if your Edmonton you can sign him a big long term but not all that long. Especially if Leon does leave, then they’ll have money and you don’t need to spend it on a guy who’s time is almost up. This cap situation for the oilers is not looking great, and I don’t think adding Toews will exactly help it. And you definitely have to consider the fact Leon stays. If he wants to win, I think he would stay. If I’m Leon, I would stay. There are some things that need to go exactly right for the oilers if this signing is gonna work out for them in the long run. I know I said it would work at first, but I don’t think Edmonton honestly should sign him. I heard a Winnipeg Jets rumor with him in there too, so I think that might be better for Toews to help rebuild a team, as there peices won’t really move except maybe schefile. I think that Toews should go to Edmonton, but I’m not saying there gm should let him.
The Oilers have done things like this before, Peca, Oates, Klima, Lowe to name a few "projects" the team had 20 years ago. I think if they added Johnathan to the line he does bring alot to the table. Oates helped Stoll back in the day become a better faceoff guy (he took that skill to LA and pretty sure he as a cup). If the price is right and the Oilers don't have a bonafide player to come up and take that spot then do it. If they do, sign him to a PTO and go from there.
And ownership loves to "utilize" LTIR.
Toews is gonna retire
At a league minimum contract I see huge value in having Toews as a fourth line center.
Put Toews as third line centre. Let Nugent Hopkins play on his left and Bugstadt on right creating three strong lines.
Next, Oilers need a strong 4th Line.
The Oilers don't need weapons, they need defensive structure. Toews's specialty has been high-end defensive forward. He might not be high-end, but the guys who survive longer are generally the ones who figure out the defensive part of their game
The oilers lost that series because of how they played, not so much because of how Chicago played. The Oil pulled one of their “let’s play like we all have Lyme disease for no apparent reason” specials.
People will dismiss it because of the underwhelming season Quick was having, but I’m sure Hill benefited from having him as backup during the playoffs
Keith, Modano, Alfredsson, Weiss, Richards, Legwand, Nielsen, Vanek, Bertuzzi. Holland loves to try to find the last drops of gas in old tanks. Toews to EDM fits the pattern, so does Kane to EDM

I would see more Toews going in Winnipeg and ending his career at home.
