  1. The day Bettman covers his face in eggs and agrees to reinstate a franchise in Hartford, after Fing them in the A, snowplows will be needed in Hell.

  2. Salt Lake City is the best choice. Maybe Portland, and even Boise (small market)….BUT Houston is not. The culture there is, cowboys that watch football and baseball, Mexicans, Africans/Middle-eastern refugees people that culturally are drawn to soccer, not hockey.

I’d roll dice on Saskatchewan. Wouldn’t consider Quebec ever, separationist a-holes (I only know this from working with Canadian Army and units from both Quebec and other provinces; difference was stark).

You need middle class colllege educated white people for hockey. Sorry, if this is uncomfortable topic.

  3. Hartford and Quebec are like two employees that were around when a company gets bought by a larger company. The larger company keeps them on the payroll, but those employees would never get past new interviews for the positions they hold. The NHL would never go back, because they don't consider them viable markets, and they only entered the league through the WHA folding into the NHL.

  4. The XL center needs WAYYYY more than just a "facelift" That place is OLD! I live just outside Hartford, i'd LOVE for a team to come back. This subject pops up in CT news every 3-5 years, and nothing ever happens….it'll never happen.

  5. As much as I want to see a return of the Whalers, I think it’s gonna be a city in the west, none of the teams in the Eastern Conference are gonna move over without a fight.

  6. Let's be honest. The most likely outcome is that the league will force the Coyotes to send their 3 best players to the Golden Knights, their 3 worst players to Calgary, and then assasinate 50 random Canadian hockey fans.

  7. I don't understand why they haven't considered Regina. They have an NHL capable arena and you can't say they won't have fans it's a Canadian market. Also to add credence to that the Saskatchewan Roughriders literally sell out the majority of their games and that's thirty-five thousand plus people.

  8. Personally, I champion a Birmingham team playing out of Pelham Alabama. Youll get that Georgia and Louisiana market, and everything in between Dallas and Tampa… Sounds like the perfect spot fot Bets to stick the Yotes.

  9. We don't need another team in California? There are 7 teams in Canada – the whole country barely has more people than California. I am fine with SD though I think SLC or Houston would be cool as well.

  10. Create 2 hockey teams unrelated to the NHL. One in Quebec and one in Hartford. Create a season just between these 2. No need the have pro players, just amateur. After that, I'm pretty sure just these 2 teams would overshadow the NHL.

  11. I haven't seen 1 person even try to defend arizona. They have literally no fans please end the fiasco lol

  12. I still think Houston is the probable winner. Obviously I want Quebec and Hartford to come back. Salt Lake city isnt one I had imagined but COULD work. They already have the Jazz as the only Big 4 team

  13. It won't be Hartford because,
    1. The last time they tried, they just didn't have the fanbase needed to support the franchise.
    2. They were transferred/absorbed as only PART of a package deal with the outgoing WHA, so there was no purchase price, only the entry fee, and they still couldn't maintain a fanbase.
One of the roadblocks that denied Atlanta from coming back until the NHL relented in 1999, and well… you know.
    3. You have to be able to prove you have fans willing to support a team today with solid numbers indicating stability for the franchise.
    4. You can bet the Atlanta two time failure has made the league wary of trying again with a previous failure.
    4. Houston, we have a problem…
    We're getting an NHL team.

  14. If they move to Hartford, wouldn't they have to negotiate with the Hurricanes to use the Whalers name and logo? Same for Quebec and Colorado, respectively?

  15. Bettmen . Walking in circles again and again . And again. Like wtf . Atlanta Thrashers had 3 tries lmao . Pheonix 2 bettmen resighn u has been

  16. Utah does not seem like a great state for hockey imo. Maybe I'm just jealous but us Canadians get told over and over that we don't have the population in our cities for more teams but Salt Lake has 200k people.

  17. My hope is SLC. They have the population, the money and the fan base interest, and it’s a true 4 season city. Also, Utah only has the Jazz, out of the 4 major sports. Hockey fits….🤷🏼‍♂️

  18. There is no chance of Hartford. This, as you've already said, goes against everything Bettman believes in. It will already take a lot to get his overwhelming pride to acknowledge that Arizona failed (though not that it was a mistake), but if he were move them to Houston it would still support his strategy. I suppose Salt Lake City, despite its small size, is a possibility, as it has successfully hosted the Jazz. Not sure if an arena deal can be worked out, something that would give it an edge over Houston.

  19. Being a big habs fan, I don't want Quebec City to get another team, they're gonna heavily politicize the team. I'm 100% on board for Hartford.

  20. Bettman will NEVER allow the Coyotes to relocate. The NHL owns and operated the team, and Bettman can't allow his Russian money laundering operation to move into "legitimate" hands.

  21. Hartford already has the AHL Wolfpack. THe fan base is either Bruins or Rangers. AZ should goto Salt lake City.

  22. Kansas City would be cool. Bring back the Scouts next to the Chiefs. I think there are to many teams in the Northeast already. Devils, Flyers, Rangers, Islanders, & Bruins.
