Haggs: Bruins Too Good to NOT Be a Playoff Team Next Season

Joe Haggerty welcomes Mick Colageo Editor/writer covering the Boston Bruins for The Standard-Times to Pucks with Haggs. In this segment, Joe and Mick discuss the Bruins salary cap issues, and Haggs makes a strong statement on where the Bruins are at heading into this season.

“So I think the cap, is a one year pain period that they’re gonna have to go through this coming year where they’re just gonna have to get through it,” Joe Haggerty said on Pucks with Haggs. “[Bruins have to] try not to make too many moves that are long term damaging for them and figure out a way to power through, make some shrewd moves now and then they can get to the other side.”

  1. Playoffs lol . Nobody cares . I will not believe anything this choke franchise does during the regular season . What a bunch of weak wussies and quitters

  2. They will be a respectable team but not a true contender. Which is kind of the worst case scenario if you actually need to recoup as many assets as the Bruins do. But then again I would’ve said that about half the teams that went twice as far as them in the playoffs…which is not a complement towards the Bruins but at least a reminder that if you get in you’ve got a shot. So I think they will be a playoff team but I won’t let that fool me into being optimistic. We will not be replacing Patrice Bergeron in free agency and I think we all know what that means.. which is that you need to pick in the first half of round one to have a legitimate chance at a true top 6 center. Which won’t happen unless the Bruins swing a huge trade or fall outside the playoff picture. It’s not that bad of a scenario compared to a scorched earth rebuild but I’m not sure where some of the optimism from fans blowing off this choke is coming from. They will be painfully decent this next year, and that could go one of two ways so I guess I would just hope for the best. Personally I would take Bergeron back on a 1 million or less deal because he is about to win the Selke and 100% can still play but Krejci I’ve seen enough. Would prefer that they both move on so we can finally rip this Band-Aid off and stop letting players run the team and dictate all of our business decisions, but we will see.
