Let’s go over one of the former Habs top prospects in Mikhail Sergachev, and review two things. Firstly, it’s the trade which saw him get swapped for Jonathan Drouin. Secondly, we’re going over his new contract, and how it honestly still kind of hurts seeing the success from a Canadiens’ fan point-of-view.

  1. Not for me. Drouin will score 70 points (pro rated). And romonov will hopefully make us forget about sergachev.

  2. Drouin….I've said it before and I'll say it again..I don't believe that Drouin likes playing hockey.

  3. Win and lose trades do exist. This one is clearly a lost for the Habs. An costly move done at a desperate time for a lasting hurt until the last breath for Habs' fan me included.

  4. Honestly as a habs fan no I don’t mind if he have him first thier is no way we get domi for Anderson he’s why, drouin was a monumental, piece in domi’s succès that duos was great and that’s why we even made it an option to trade domi for Anderson idk if Columbus takes it without that season and yes domi is great but you add a shergachev yes we r a lot better but u take out drouin domi get’s about 10 less points (maybe) and I don’t know if we even come close to the playoffs (well 2 points maybe like 6) so drouin is very helpful and also shergachev would have had to play top 2 mins and idk if that helps his developpement

  5. this trade helped more Tampa than Montreal. Tampa was stuck with the salary cap and had too many good fowards. Since the trade, Drouin hasn't been able to be the best version of himself.

  6. you will find out that habs fan like shaming the gm a lot. i guess its because we like the game so much

  7. I think people need to put this trade into context. The Habs came off a series loss where they scored 11 goals in 6 games. They’re drafting and development at the time was awful, and they had no real skill forwards in the pipeline, except for Scherbak, but at the time I don’t think he was doing too well. They knew what they were giving up in Sergachev, but they DESPERATELY needed a skilled forward like Drouin. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out up to now, it doesn’t always. But sometimes you just gotta go for it.

  8. Meh it was worth a try. We really needed some offense and he had a lot of potential. If Drouin blossoms in Mtl people will look at this very differently.

  9. I still find surprising that in all the chat around whos expandable to make cap discussion… Drouin is never mentionned

  10. Drouin is not a 18-19y old player that you can mold into something different…. the cement is already dry on this one

  11. Sergachev, Markov, Emelin, Radulov… it was like Montreal went on an anti-Russia binge and purge. I'm still bitter that Markov wasn't given a contract or a fitting fair well.

  12. I like how his thumbnail was "this hurts", and later, he said this trade kinda stings. Good thumbnail. That's all I'm saying.

  13. Dude it’s fine Romanov will be our new sergachev when he joins the team next year can’t wait to see him play it

  14. to this day i dont think Bergevin has any sort of plan. I don’t think he has any idea what he’s doing. He just keeps the team a bubble team nearly every year. Tank or don’t. So frustrating to watch.

  15. Yeah I guess for almost the same $/year compare to Edmonston at defense I would rather have Sergachev…but I still think Drouin has a lot to offer offensively in Montreal. Let’s see if any magic could happen next season with Suzuki 😉

  16. Yeah it sucks. I feel like Drouin is finally going to have a good year. If Romanov pans out ill totally forget this trade. Bergevin doesn't make many mistakes trading wise. Ill be satisfied if Drouin is a 60-70 point player.

  17. The Bruins passed on Matt Barzel Thomas Chabot and Kyle connors a year they had 3 consecutive draft picks that hurts

  18. Yes it still hurts. Just a lot less than it used too with romanov, struble, harris, norlinder, and guhle in the pipeline

  19. I was in mtl when they made the trade. People were worried, but they were excited. It sucks that Drouin hasn't been a powerhouse, but Marc had to try and get that player for the French fans to be happy. It stings, but I understand that the trade is what it is.

  20. Sorry, this trade should have never have happened!! On any other team, Bergevin would have been fired for this one!

  21. Gotta say as "bad" as the Sergachev trade was, it doesn't hurt to have a Romanov. May have missed out the first time but second times a charm and you might just have the better defensemen anyway since we've yet to see Alex in the NHL.

  22. Jonathan Drouin was expendable for the Lightning because of Brady Point. Drouin became a distraction for lightning because he request a trade he got it and The Habs acquired their talented French Canadian Forwards but he did not pan out so far as the offensive superstar everyone was expected more from him. (i.e 100+ PTS /season , Top 10 Forward in the NHL i,e, Kind of like his former teammate Nathan McKinnon.

Mikhail Sergachev was everything the Tampa Bay lightning was looking for. The habs will have like to keep him back in the day but they know in order to get Drouin they need to pay the price and that price is Sergachev. It's great for the Lightning (Sergachev contribute to Tampa bay stanley cup).

  23. Bergeron said the reason why he acquired Jonathan Drouin is cuz he thought he was going to be the next French Canadian Patrick Kane.

  24. Been a bolts fan for 20 plus years I hope Drouin gets 80 plus points. That said, I love Sergechev way too much potential. Also still rather we drafted Seth Jones…

  25. Let's wait and see if the chemistry between Drouin and Suzuki in the playoffs will continue next year, Drouin isn't a bad player, but he's not consistent
