Granlund himself is an excellent hockey player. He’s got really good mechanics and elite passing ability which indicates good IQ and vision. The problem is he doesn’t shoot very often and it hardly seems like his linemates gel with him outside of other elite talent. Frankly, it seemed to me as if he was very off and misused when he was not on a line with Filip Forsberg and Matt Duchene. It can be frustrating to watch because his resistance to shooting makes him less of a threat and allows other teams to anticipate that he’s going to pass it somewhere, so they just clog his lanes and he’s neutralized.
