  1. Stutzle needs to stay on a line with some higher quality players
right now he's stuck with bottom 6 grinders

  2. There is no doubt about it, if you did the draft over right now who wouldn't take Raymond 1st overall?

  3. Not much of an argument at this point. Yeah, things could (and probably will) change in the long run with some of these guys, but Raymond passes the eye test and the numbers don't lie.

  4. Way too early to make any kind of comparison of this kind. These kids are just getting started, but as it stands Raymond is kicking butt….. definitely very happy with that draft pick!!!!!!!

  5. Pretty bad Red Wings team? Look, I am the first to admit, the Wings are not going to win the Stanley cup and they have a long way to go to be a serious contender. But they are 9-9-3 and in 4th in the division. I don't consider them to be bad, just kinda average.

  6. For Raymond the closest comparison I used was Panarin and it appears so. Yzerman had the rare chance to add a right handed RW who played a 200ft game and backchecked well, so Steve nailed the choice (after surprising with Seider a year before). Even rarer is Lucas using that shoot the puck off the pass (dropping the knee one-timer), and has a knack for it. Not many players utilize to perfection except for Stamkos, and goalies have issue trying to track that rising shot. I expect to see it more with other players in coming years now that Lucas is getting success with it.
Another thing is for certain, Larkin's career has been rejuvenated with a talented RW like Raymond on that line.

  7. He seems to be the next generation Yzerman, and may be able to assure the Wings a 2nd Dynasty. Look at the uncannily similar paths that both share, so far. Remember the Dead Wings? I was there for ALL OF IT. Raymond reminds me of Larionov too. GO WINGS!!

  8. I was real surprised Raymond has done so good. Now all we can do Is hope he is the real deal. The next 3 years should tell us

  9. I don't know why everyone is saying red wings are "pretty bad." Yes, they aren't taking over the league but give a little respect where respect is due. They aren't that bad.

  10. Chinakov is the guy I have my eyes on. His release is insane. 2-3 years and he may end up as the best player in the draft.

  11. This kid is going to be amazing. He already is, but just wait until the Wings are a playoff contender. Wait until Cossa becomes the starter. Oh man, even as a Habs fan, I can't help but get excited.

  12. Lol "pretty bad Red Wings team overall" idk about that😄.. You obviously don't watch this team so..

  13. Honestly Raymond might have the best career out of them all. He has the best fit in Detroit. Stutzle is on Ottawa. Enough said. Byfield is hurt, but I think he’ll be really good because LA didn’t rush him. Laf I think will bounce back. He’s young, and he will develop, but his development will be forever tarnished like Kakko because NY rushed him, not ruined him, but it still will hurt him forever. So Raymond probably will be the best. There I said it.

  14. Razor scored the OT winger over Buffalo last night, So Lucas Raymond now has 9 Goals 12 Assists for 21 Points in 22 Games.

  15. Even if he doesn't end up being the best player out of the 2020 draft, his current level of play makes the fact that they had a historically bad season and ended up getting leapfrogged by 3 other teams to pick 4th a footnote now.

  16. Raymond are the perfect example of why you trust in your Gm/ scouting department to make the right picks and don’t depend on lottery luck.

  17. The question that can be asked is, would Raymond have had the same start if he played for the Rangers? I say no, because Raymond gets a lot of ice time and plays in the first line with us. He should not be compared to Panarin bc Panarin has a completely different register available for him as a superstar. Raymond hocket-IQ and hands reminds me off Nick.Backstrom and his sense to know where the goal is and his quick snap shots are not at all unlike Elias Pettersson here. L.R will be a Elit player for us under many years too come. Add a few pounds of muscle then his pretty much set if he manages to maintain a high level of continuity like e.i. Alex Ovechkin..

  18. Byfield isn’t that far away. He was skating in red jersey yesterday. Mid December he’ll be ready to go

  19. Like Mick Redmond says, the NHL is a tough place to learn. The burden of being a first overall pick is you're expected to step right in and be a star while everyone else takes another year to get up to speed. QMJHL is a kid's league. I still think he'll be fine, but a few AHL games may have helped him.

  20. yeah hes good but his team mates..all of them…larkin…bertuzzi….they scoring or getting scoring chances…dont get me wrong hes a good player reminds me of young brett hall…

  21. Look back on the year Guy Lafleur was taken first and Marcel Dionne was taken second. As I recall Dionne was amazing right off but it took Lafleur a couple of years to really get going. At the end of they day you would probably say Lafleur was the better player though of course Dionne was great and Hall of Fame. Patience can pay off (something the Canucks did not have when they had Cam Neely)

  22. Fun facts, my name is Raymond, my sons name is Lucas. Now, Lucas Raymond is from my hometown Gothenburg, and he ofcourse played for my team, Frölunda Indians.

  23. Way too early but Stutzle out of these 4 is the most electric and creates most havoc. Doesn’t finish enough though and his team just looks disjointed and lost all over on offence and defence.
