The Toronto Maple Leafs have some business to take care of with Auston Matthews, but it sounds like while doing that, they could also lose Michael Bunting. According to SI.com’s David Alter, the Leafs and Brad Treliving haven’t reached out to Bunting’s agent since he was hired. Could that mean Bunting tests NHL free agency? And if so, what could he get?

I think Bunting is destined to head elsewhere, and that's fine with me. As much as I will miss what he brings, the suspension and beef with officials makes me hesitant in giving him another chance
Yeah, I think Knies makes Bunting obsolete. I'm wondering just how other teams will value him, too. They could look at his offensive output and devalue it because he was playing with Matthews/Marner a lot. And then there's the officiating problem– which I don't entirely blame Bunting for. But it's a factor. It's a joke, really, considering all we've seen from what's let go further in the playoffs. Bunting looks like a Lady Byng finalist compared to what has gone on. It sounds like Leaf brass (Shanahan) made up their mind on him a long time ago, and it was not to re-sign.
Too bad about Leafs Nation. It's certainly a different world from when I started out in life. Things were easy for me. I got a good job just because I was big and had high school. They needed 20 guys, so they hired 40, knowing they'd weed out ten, and ten would quit. When I took early retirement 33 years later, and I started looking for part time work here and there, boy what a change. I'm not an old guy who thinks kids today have it easy– you don't. It's harder. But I will say that if you have multiple irons in the fire you will find your niche sooner or later. Everyone says work hard– yeah, you have to do that. But the luck of being in the right place at the right time counts for as much or more. So you have to massage your luck by increasing the times and the places. You'll find it.
Officials have turned on him. Negative overall impact on the team now. Love the player but how can you use him now. Anything happens on the ice he's going to the box for embellishing.
Keep up the good work love your videos
Seems the Leafs ghosted Bunts a year ago …. Love him or hate him …that's not good business. I blame Shanny lol.
Keep up the good work Nick,, I think bunting is going where is the money is,,
Austin is going to dine on Michael Buntings cash…just like he dines on endorsements and, only capital gains, owing on bonuses that covers 97% of his contract. Guy can't support his teammates or the community that supports him by paying taxes.
U let hyman go for 5…yet suggest we pay bunting 4/4.5?…no god damn way……bye bye bunting
Michael Bunting is the least of the Leafs problems.
Losing Michael Bunting isn't as bad of a loss as losing Hyman. Bunting doesn't have an much versatility as Hyman had and with the free agent class being so weak this year, Bunting might be set for a big over-payment by some team. To be honest, with the emergence of Knies, losing him isn't a big deal.
Boy am I glad you are not our GM. Bunting at 4.5 million? Are you crazy? He is a 2-2.5 million dollar player at best. Give your head a shake.
He just doesn't have the ability to control the pie hole! You cannot afford to have him in the playoff!! We all saw the game the refs were playing in the playoffs, absolute BS if you axe me, but it is what it is!!
The refs were "blind" to clear cut penalties on some plays and that did cost the team, there's no doubt about it. Bah Bye!

Why should he take a home town discount? He hasnāt made big $. Heās the only one who played with any grit on any line he was on. Let Marner take the bloody discount. Heāll do fine playing scrappy winger on another team
It's hockey you need players that get their noses dirty.
