& replace him with who exactly? What a dumb-sh*t idea. A mobile, smooth skating D-man who doesn't hit much, but does most everything else really well. Excellent stick & I've never seen a guy who was better at timing the exact moment to drop to block a pass on a 2 on 1. Always wished he could school Morgan on that ability.

No, they should trade him. Brodie is great at regular season shinny, crap at playoff hockey.
If people want him gone, you better suggest who will replace him. I would move McCabe. He added nothing to the team overall. Might be able to get a couple of draft picks for him.

The Leafs aren’t going to get top 4 quality defense with the Cap space they have to work with. They need to retain him.
If you can obtain a better D, midway through the year, make the move then.
You don't trade an asset. The only way the leafs even trade Brodie is if you lock in Schenn, Mayfield and orlov. At that point you can simply trade him away. If you aren't guaranteed those guys you don't buy out a 1 year contract on a good defensive defenceman. The problem wasn't defence besides Holl, Giordano and Liljegren and even they didn't let us get blown out it was lack of scoring and dump and chase style hockey the leafs switched to vs Florida.
