After winning the Cup in just their sixth season, Button applauds Vegas’ ‘phenomenal’ feat

Craig Button joins Jay Onrait to discuss how impressive it is that the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup within the first six years of joining the NHL, if Jonathan Marchessault was his choice for the Conn Smythe Trophy, and how well trade deadline acquisition Ivan Barbashev fit in with Vegas.

  1. did you know this fact but, everyone saying BOB was a machine is great and all but he wasnt that good. BOB had 33 goals Against in the first 3 series against BOS,TOR and CAR. Vegas had 24 or 26 Goals against him in just 5 games. How about that for Stats that is Wild. Vegas absolutely ran the Panthers.

  2. Lord Stanley rests in the pacific division, home of the 23-24 cup champions Anaheim Ducks

  3. They were just so well built. Big defense that moves well, deep up front with a good mix of size, speed, skill & grit. Well deserved.

  4. In the salary cap era the complaints you hear from GMs – "we're rebuilding", "the cap didn't go up and now we're screwed because the cap [strangely] only affects our team" is pure bunkum. Some GMs are better than others in assessing talent and building teams.

  5. Love Button firing those shots at the Leafs at the end. They really are the embarrassment of the league.

  6. After seeing Mark Stone leading Vegas to the Stanley Cup, the pressure is on to see if Erik Brannstrom can do the same for Ottawa

  7. Panthers sure made it easy for the knights, guess that's what happens when a mid team is carried by a goalie, eventually they come back down to earth.

  8. After watching what Vegas did in such a short time ,i hate the leafs even more 56 years and counting it's sad so sad

  9. They hate us cuz they ain't us. The host just got served good sound correct thinking about Gary Bettman and he rejected and wasn't embarrassed in the least.

  10. It wouldn't be a day in Canada if hatred for any American associated with the NHL isn't promoted in Canadian media…Your tears are delicious.

  11. Just once, I'd like to see a team win this thing without being 15 million over the cap.

And yeah Craig tremendous vision, oversaw the most lockouts in history and continues to do absolutely nothing to grow the game the right way. Flat cap for years, escrow, horrible TV deal, Arizona playing in a peewee rink. What a wonderful vision

  12. Vegas success gives hope to all previous expansion teams that have not won yet, as well as any new ones that come in

  13. One commentary has descibed Vegas management as "ruthless" in putting together their cup winning team. Well, I guess maybe. The 6 original "misfits" were all amazing aquisitions as were many others to follow. I would like to look at 3 of them. First, we needed a dominant no. 1 center, and they went out and got Eichel. As far as I am concerned, he's better than overhyped McDavid and Matthews. At last count, the 2 of them combined have won a grand total of zero cups. Vegas gave up 2 good players in Krebs and Tuch, but does anyone seriously think they are going to be leading Buffalo to the cup anytime soon? Next we got Stone, who may be just about the best 2-way winger in the league, from Ottawa and gave up Lindberg and Brannstrom. Folks, that is your classic definition of a fleecing. Again, I wouldn't anticipate Ottawa winning the cup anytime soon. Lastly, if you had to pick 1 defenseman out of Pietrangelo, Nurse, and Jones, who would you pick? Of course it's a no-brainer, and Petro actually makes LESS than the othet 2. I could go on and on about Stephenson, Barbashev, obviously Hill, and the other great players. I really believe we have witnessed something truly historic with this team and am so privileged to be an avid fan right from the get-go 6 years ago

  14. Good Job Vegas, well earned! Funny though how everyone talks about how the Knights first 6 seasons is such an amazing feat, I know another franchise that in their 1st 6 seasons were in the playoffs each of their 1st 6 years and won two Stanley Cups, if you haven't figured that out yet it was the Edmonton Oilers, 3 cup finals, 2 wins, Div final loss, QF loss and 1st round loss in their 1st 6 seasons.
