  1. Chiasson has been the canucks worst player by a mile, there’s absolutely no reason podz doesn’t slot in for him.

  2. Podkolzin? He needs ice time, he needs time. He's a Rookie playing 4th line minutes. Time. He's got to play. Chaisson has a known ceiling, you need to invest in kids – the investment? Time. Petey? Geez, he'd still might be a big piece to dangle in a trade. Part of Eichel package? Maybe?

  3. Obviously he's rusty, and his confidence is low. Maybe he needs more runway before he can take off?

  4. He’s playing like his head isn’t in the game. Your descriptions are all on point. I sense a despondency in him that goes beyond hockey. Lots of smart young men go through it, regardless of wealth or whatnot. I don’t think he has that fire in him at the moment.

  5. Sitting Podz for the home opener would be a crime against player and fans alike. To deny us and him that moment to have his name announced and feel the appreciation both ways… little things like that can be priceless. Imagine if Bure was benched in his first game at home? Instead it was the most memorable debut in team history. I’m just saying it’s a rare opportunity for a moment that can have lasting benefit for all.

  6. I am at the game on Tuesday, I hope Petey plays better. I know Miller has the points, and he has played well these last couple of games, so hopefully he continues to progress in terms of quality passing and puck retention. Pod would be great to see.

  7. petey looks like a mere shadow of his former self… i dont know what is wrong with him.. i am hoping he just needs a few more games to get his game going…

  8. I took Podkolzin on my week two fantasy picks and totally regret it. Podkolzin is good at taking the body but he doesn't get himself into position often enough to contribute offensively. As for Petterson, I've never really been a big fan of this pick, he's undersized and seems to lack intensity. You know who has intensity? Connor Garland. He is the prototypical Canuck, hard working two way player that has a physical edge to his game.

  9. Pettersson struggling possible 18 Goals 7.3 million what a joke I'll would trade Him after 2 year. Lotto will be. Gone soon Let podkolzon played

  10. Top 10 Canucks right now (IMO)
    1. Hughes
    2. Demko
    3. Horvat
    4. Garland
    5. Miller
    6. Pettersson
    7. Boeser
    8. Hoglander
    9. Ekman-Larsson
    10. Myers

  11. Bo Horvat experienced this in his third year as well. Henrik Sedin did as well. It’s okay we will have our rekey Petey back soon!

  12. I was worried but after watching these games im not. I mean he has not lost anything in his toolbox. He can still shoot, dangle and that hockey iq still exists. I think his problems are confidens. Elias is a player who gets better the more he succed. And when you get a bad start it may take a while to turn on the machine. As long as his skills are the same he can comeback. Management on the canucks need to help him handle situations like this. And we’ll be fine with Elias for the furture of his carrier.

  13. How to solve Podkolzin and Pettersson:
    Podkolzin – Pettersson – Boeser
    Pearson – Horvat – Garland
    Höglander – Miller – Chiasson
    Highmore – Dickinson – Dowling

  14. Pettersson started last season not looking like himself either, so I'm guessing he needs a lot of playtime to get going. Whenever you see him play bad you can tell he's thinking too much and not playing on instinct, that's why everything looks so hard for him atm.

  15. Green only plays rookies if he has no other options. He benched Boeser in his rookie year in the first couple games. It was a total head scratcher as Brock was good in pre-season that year.

  16. Players are not machines. A lot of good players has had bad periods where they didn't produce.

  17. Someone needs to get Petey some steroids, gets man handled off the puck so easily every puck battle he's involved in. It's like watching a piece of Kleenex getting brushed over.

  18. Too much expectation for Podz. If he continues to sit on press box May as well send him fo Abbotsford.

  19. Podkolzin had serious issues with consistency in the KHL. He'd play a bunch of games and be near-perfect, then he'd be a major liability for a bunch of games. There's a reason he spent a whole bunch of games in the KHL in the press box rather than on the ice.

Pettersson is probably just needing to get used to the atmosphere of the game, and needs more time practicing with his line. Spending time practicing with the Hughes brothers and Tkachuk might have been good enough to keep up the fundamentals, but none of that time was going towards meshing with his linemates. If you notice, he's usually looking for Hughes, which is good sometimes, but gets predictable fast, and those passes to the point are easily intercepted. They've had a few days to practice at home now, so hopefully he'll be in better form for the home opener.

  20. Been saying they should trade pettersson for eichel since last year. He talked wayyy too much on the off season to be playing like this. Said he wants to be on a contending team then maybe he should actually contribute
