Yea that's what I would have thought as well…of course, as a Flyers fan, I'm happy that Carle is with the Flyers now. He's really solidified our Defense with Jones and Parent being out. I still think we could use another top 4 defender (a shut-down defenseman preferably), but we'll see.
But yea, if the Lightning follow the Pens blueprint of rebuilding, they could end up with Tavares or Hedican, since the Lightning really need defensive help.
Exactly. Tampa doesn't have the market to be able to have a mentality like the Yankees. Unlike the Flyers, who had the luxury of being able to trade Forsberg, and rob Nashville and Atlanta with trades, Tamps isn't as attractive of a destination for big time FAs. Malone and Vrbata are decent players but they need a player like Malkin to inflate their numbers. But the Bolts may need to endure 2 more years of rebuilding…we'll see. But I understand how you feel, cause it's how I felt two years ago
When the Flyers were mired in their disaster season (2006-07), I was really worried, because I thought that because of the salary cap, I would have to endure 4-5 years of rebuilding…but fortunately, we have one of the best GMs in the league and he had the resources and abilities to transform the Flyers from bottom feeders to a berth in the Eastern Conference Finals.
lol, it's funny cause the Flyers have been a really good team for pretty much their entire 40+ years of existence. They have the highest winning percentage since their expansion, they're a really good regular season team, and they've won 2 Stanley Cups, but they should have a lot more, had it not been for running into dynastic teams in each return to the Cup Finals (Montreal, Islanders, Oilers, and Wings). The Flyers could have 5+ Cups by now, but it's just more Philly bad luck.
Yup, it was the greatest Stanley Cup Final of all-time. The Flyers were decimated by injuries, and without their top scorer Tim Kerr, while going up against the best team ever assembled, who were in the prime of their respective careers.
And thankyou for the congratulations…It was a great feeling to finally get a championship after 25 years of waiting. The Rays had a hell of a year. They were really something to watch. I like Evan Longoria, he's my favorite player from the Rays.
Hey Viper, I'm glad I found you again, cause I wanted to know what you would think about a proposition I have, in terms of a trade: If the Lightning finish second-to-last and get the second overall pick, how about we give you Scott Hartnell, Joffrey Lupul, Randy Jones, and our 19th overall pick(I think that's our pick), in exchange for your second overall pick and Ryan Malone? I really want the Flyers to get Victor Headman, lol, plus it would free lots of cap space for us!
hmmmmm i have an idea… how bout the flyers get rid of lupul and trade him for someone like kessel from the bruins… in reality that wouldnt happen though
I would take Kessel, but the Bs wouldn't trade him for an underachieving Lupul who hasn't really played at the level he did when he was with the Ducks. If this trade ever happened, it would be a steal for the Flyers, because Lupul has a 4.25MM cap hit and Kessel is only gonna get better. Last season the Bruins were interested in Carter and wanted to get him, but wouldn't give up Kessel for Carter, so I doubt that they would give him up for Lupul.
hey Viper, sorry I'm late getting back to you. As for Vanriemsdyke, last I heard, he's doing really well and tearing it up in the college level right now. I've been hearing that he might stay another year or two, which has been pissing our GM Paul Holmgren off, but hey, if that's what allows him to keep developing and eventually make an impact, so be it. As for that trade I mentioned…I'd still like to make it, but I would wanna keep Hartnell and let u guys keep Malone lol.
every hockey team has biased announcers, like the Penguins, Rangers, Sharks, etc…and Carter isn't a scrub…he happens to be third in the league in goals, with 38. Doc is good but he's only the best because every other Versus announcer sucks really bad. Gary Thorne is a better announcer than Doc and him and Bill Clement is the best color analyst.
hey man lupul has had a rough go last year before hatcher injured him and fucked up his neck lupul was tied for the team lead with richards in points…do u remember when hatcher missed the leaf and hit lupul thats why lupul was so bad in the playoffs and i believe its hindering him still this year jus give another year if he only has 50 points at the end of next year than your right but that hit really messed him up
pandamonium776, I agree that with you, in the fact that I don't believe Lupul has fully recovered since that hit from Hatcher. He had a mild concussion and a spinal chord contusion, plus a high ankle sprain. Despite that though, Lupul had a nice season with 25g-25a, +1…but for what he's getting paid for next season, his stats need to be around 30g-50a, +11, or something like that…cause Lupul definitely is a really good player. But with the cap, the Flyers may not be able to keep him.
JVR is actually signed with the Flyers, anewillss…he signed a 3-year entry level contract, and depending what happens over the summer with the offseason, he'll either start the season with the Phantoms (most likely) or he may have a spot on the Flyers. Maybe something like: Gagne-Richards-Briere Hartnell-Carter-Lupul JVR-Giroux-Knuble Carcillo-Powe-Asham

The Lightning also need a Paul Holmgren-like GM.

Biron-Niitymaki
It depends what happens in the offseason.
@wildcatshockey18 every team's announcer is bias for their team that's why they're hired
@wildcatshockey18 Haha a biased comment about people being biased. No shit they're biased they are being paid by the Flyers.
Not only did he take the puck off Alex Ovechkin and score but to do that shorthanded? This is probably Jeff Carter's best goal ever.
