It’s not the name we were looking for today but I’ll take it. Vernon was a great mentor to Ozzy back in the day.
Was holding out hope Ozzie would get it, especially with a goalie heavy class for 2023, but nice to see Vernon get the recognition! Maybe it’ll lead to an all snubbed class eventually (Ozzie, Cujo, Mogilny)
Justs nuts that he is in before Osgood right?
If Vernon is in, Osgood’s case just got way better. It might take him until he’s 60 to get in as well but we can enjoy this for Vernon right now!
3 goalies got in today.. only 1 was better than Ozzy.. it’s very strange cause normally 0 goalies ever get in.
I loved watching Mike when I was a kid. Many people in this sub aren’t old enough to remember how incredible he was, so without further ado, here’s a short list of his awesomeness.
Mike Vernon’s accomplishments:
* Two Stanley Cups
* One Conn Smythe for the 97 wings
* Silver and Bronze IIHF Medals for Team Canada
* One of only 22 goalies to have their number retired
* Three awards in junior: league MVP, best goalie, and best goalie in the memorial cup.
* Five time NHL all star
* Jennings award winner (split with ozzie)
* Molson Cup Awardee for Calgary for the 91-92 season
* Alberta Sports HOF inductee
* 385 NHL wins
* 782 NHL games played
Fun fact: He convinced Patrick Roy to ask for a trade the morning the wings blew out the habs and got him traded to Colorado.
The man was an absolute beast, and I’m excited to see he got in.
He should have been inducted the day he beat Roy’s ass.

Canadian bias on this is insane. I have a Mike Vernon signed stick, I’m a Mike Vernon fan, but is he a hall of famer? Sheesh. Two Cups, a Conn Smythe and one Jennings trophy. This committee is watering down the HOF each year.
A reminder for some, this is the Hockey Hall of Fame, not the NHL Hall of Fame. Not saying that I believe Vernon rose to the level, but he does have some accomplishments outside of the NHL that are factored in here.
Vernon deserves it. So does Osgood, who has better career stats.
