I’m not sure how I feel about Spencer Martin as a dedicated backup. He may have had too much pressure as number 1 last year when Demko was out. Maybe being the backup will help with his development.
I like Drance's suggestion on how to spread the goaltending duties between Demko, Martin and Silovs. I think having Silovs play as the #1 guy in Abby will be good for his development. Spencer Martin is a capable backup – my only worry is that his extended stint as the fill-in number one last year has made his weakness too well known around the league now. If Ian Clark cannot help him overcome that high glove hand weakness, he will continue to be exploited next year whenever he comes in, which would be a huge problem for him and the team.
That segment at the beginning of the show (just before Drance) is absolutely HILARIOUS. Rick reminds me so much of Don Cherry with his old school quotes. Hysterical.
