On October 12, 2016, Matthews took the ice for the Toronto Maple Leafs and became the first player in modern NHL history to score four goals in his debut. Not only did he make NHL history, he did it in just two periods and was 19-years-old. Since then, Matthews’ career has lived up to the historic debut hype. He’s blossomed into one of the top hockey players on the planet and has Toronto hopeful that their Stanley Cup drought will be coming to an end.
