I like Daniel Gee’s stuff. Always seems complete and detailed.

Out of these 4, I like the sound of Willander and Simashev the most. Sounds like Reinbacher will almost assuredly be gone by our pick. I think if the typical high ranked faller like Benson or Leonard isn’t there for us, we go with Willander or Simashev.

Simashev is the way to go. He’s bigger and better at everything than Willander. The only thing Willander has going for him is he’s a righty but that matters less now with OEL no longer clogging up the left-side. His KHL contract is irrelevant as Willander almost certainly wouldn’t make the team next season anyway and if he makes it the year after he’s unlikely to play a large role anyway. The timeline pretty much washes out, Simashev can come in in two seasons and immediately step into a significant role most likely

I’d rank them Reinbacher, Simashev, Willander based on my preferences. Not feeling Sandin Pellika, as a fit for us. Mostly cause we have Hronek now and I don’t see a Hughes/Sandin Pellika duo working out. Having 3 PP quarterbacks seems redundant.

Willander has a more developed D game, and has a bigger frame to add more muscle to than Sandin Pellika does, same with Reinbacher. Simashev is a big body. We are in short supply of them. But he can also skate incredibly well for a bigger dude. Guy looks NHL ready now. So in 2 years when his KHL contract is up he should easily slot into the lineup. With the plethora of Russians that we have, that should be a pretty easy transition too.

If we can’t get Reinbacher or Sandin Pellika at 11, I would trade back a few spots and get additional draft pick(s) if we are gonna be reaching for Willander or Simashev.

Otherwise, the number of high scoring forwards in this draft is incredible and I’d be willing to take anyone except Barlow at 11

We shouldn’t just draft a D inorder to draft a D. The forwards have much higher ceilings in this draft

I know everyone here seems to really want Wallinder and Simashev over ASP, but I want to go on record and say that i think ASP is going to be an amazing NHLer and better then Wallinder and Simashev. I guess we will see if everyone laughs at this take in 5 years.

Based on this list (great read!) I’d rank them,

    1) Reinbacher
    2) Simashev
    3) Willander

I think ASP is too risky. At 11th, it would be great to snag Reinbacher. Depending on who else is still on the board, not sure I would pick the others, but Simashev sounds really solid!!

Based on this article alone, I like the Russian lefty.

May help my ptsd from when we passed on Sergachev
