I don’t see how they can. They don’t really have the assets for it.
Would require probably a combination of a blue chip prospect(we don’t have), more high picks(we can’t afford to give) or a player teams want(nobody wants the players we are trying to move).
I understand Donnie's point about Podkolzin, but most of the excitement about him came from one single U18 tournament, whereas Michkov has a lengthy record of elite scoring at every level and tourney he's ever been at. I would absolutely move up to get him, but the valid point that was made was that the Canucks just don't have that many assets to give in a trade.
I don't see how the Canucks can move up – the team has no draft picks, prospects, and players that are exactly enticing for a team to give up a top 10, blue-chip prospect to swap with the Canucks' 11th pick, which likely would be a solid NHLer but not an elite player. We have to remember that teams who are drafting 1-10 are also needing players for their own rebuild/re-tool too so they will make the Canucks over-pay to move up…
I think the Brian Burke coupe to snatch the Sedins twins was a one-time wonder that will never happen again in this organization.
Oh NOW canucks are thinking of moving up huh ?? Maybe they should have thought of that before winning those later games at the end of the season! I mean c'mon i rmbr we were at one point(like last 15 games or something of the season) even behind the blues, capitals and redwings but then they started winning all those games at the end while the aforementioned 3 teams started losing, resulting where we all are now. Had they just not go on the pointless run at the end, we'd surely be getting an 8th or 9th pick instead, which is a huge difference in this draft and most likely the position they're trying to move up to. Ughhhhh
Their moving up to take Chicago number one overall pick. Package is Petterson, our number one pick and Hogz. I was talking to Jim Benning and he has inside information on this deal. Bank on it. They might have to throw in Silovs too.
Allvin has the Benning syndrome, no foresight, only concerned about the present. Wouldn’t it be so much easier to move up if you didn’t trade away the 17th pick?

SIMISHEV IS GUNNA BE THE BEST D MAN FROM THIS DRAFT IN 5 YEARS TIME LOOKING BACK.

Simashev is big & fast but he can’t score. The stats don’t lie. Canucks stay away
makes sense for the canucks to want a superstar making ELC money when that OEL payment really hurts them

How about this for a trade…Canucks package Miller and their 11 th pick to Columbus for their 3rd overall pick??? Am I crazy????
How about not winning all those worthless games at the end of the season then you wouldn’t have to trade. This franchise is doomed forever
Rathbone
that would be par for the course. win a bunch of meaningless games cuz they're "building something" then give up assets to move up.

I love how flustered Rick get whenever Donnie interrupts him. The chemistry between the two is brilliant

There was basically a month left in the season when the Canucks had the 5th pick and now we're here. Soooo glad they had a strong end to the season
Hockey News Rankings have Dimitri Simashev at # 10 , just sayin …
