These trades are crazy and would only happen if you are drinking Ranger cool aid. Why would Habs trade Slavkowsky who is 1 year out from draft year plus a first round pick for Laf who is multiple years out and is considered a bust.

Your best bet with Montreal is to offer Lafrenière for the Habs #5 pick of the 1st round. Don't forget that Gorton is the guy who drafted Lafrenière and maybe he'd be stupid enough to fall for the trade. #5 pick will get you a better player than Lafrenière or Slafkovsky (not a speedster, no great hands, skates like a smurf, not a speedy guy, not a scorer but he's 6'4" or 6'5"). That would be one heck of a steal, depends how Gorton feels about Laffy. Hughes may be the Habs GM but Gorton makes the decision.

Canucks fan here, the deal that keeps surfacing is Garland (there's got to be more added as well) for Lafreniere. The reason this is the conversation is because your Rangers need a right handed shot RW and the Canucks need move out salary. But the trade rumour of Lekkerimaki & Podkolzin for Lafreniere doesn't help their salary cap issues. I would say it's fair but not reasonable. Also I find it interesting that my Canucks are always in the conversation for Lafreniere so I think something might actually happen between the 2 clubs.
As a Rangers fan would you consider Garland (and a prospect like Hoglander or Rathbone) for Lafreniere?
Personally I think he's a bust. He doesn't have any moves to juke out an opponent and he then gets stopped dead in his tracks as soon as an opponents pinky touches him. And then he just watches the play continue without him. Hoping Rangers offer him lowest qualifying offer. He rejects it and takes an offer from someone like the Habs. And the Rangers get some higher then average draft picks as compensation. Trying to get too much for him would just stall any trades and then the Rangers would end up adding over priced mediocre talent as a replacement. Plus if they do that Drury can kind of avoid being blamed for making a bad trade. The warranted compensation is pretty much set by the league.
The only player from the #Canucks are linked to Lafreneire is Conner Garland, the Canucks wouldn't trade Podkolzin or Lekkerimaki, it's been reported by one of your NY people that reported this
