I get it in the sense that they are covering their asses, but I thought the special warm ups were pretty neat. Just kinda shitty that a few people being pissed off by the rights of people caused that to go away. The slight silver lining is that at least the warm up tape won’t go away.

I always thought the sweaters were cool. I also respected people decision to not want to participate.

So then we better not see military, cancer/diseases, first responders or First Nations themed jerseys worn on ice.

They were all just ways to make more money anyways.

The way people erupt at each other in public these days it’s probably a wise move to avoid confrontations at the games. Especially games kids attend frequently. Sports being a place to forget the world for a few hours is fine imho.

They’re probably tired about people from all sides of the political spectrum getting faux outraged at whatever cause they’re supporting at the time. Honestly, probably a smart move. Avoid the needless distractions.

I don’t care how unpopular this may be.. it’s for the best. Don’t promote any cause on a league basis. If teams want to individually support community initiatives, great do it. But let the teams decide what they want to do.

Arizona Coyotes. Just ’cause.

Thank you for this.

I assume that means all the ugly military night jerseys are gone too. Otherwise this is some BS. It was all just a cash grab anyways.

Fuck this league. Only league where acceptance is even a question. Can’t wait for Buttman to be gone

Great decision

Good, can we ban national anthems too and heroes of the game? Sick of all this political crap. I just want to watch a game.

As a gay man, I hate when companies (yes, the NHL is a company) do something to “entice” more customers. A lot of them are not part of that celebration/support throughout the year, but one day of the season is enough for them. Many of the owners donate to politicians and causes that don’t align with lgbt causes, and that’s why I hate when they go “pride.”

That green St Patrick’s Day Oilers jersey is going to be my retirement fund some day.

So does that mean no more… – hockey fights cancer jerseys? – military appreciation jerseys? – St Patrick’s jerseys?
HamBoy2
Not surprising that the most conservative and whitest league does this.

If the NHL really cared they would ban Fanatics jerseys instead.

Ban the Fanatics jerseys

“Teams will still celebrate Pride and other theme nights, including military appreciation and Hockey Fights Cancer. They’re also expected to still design and produce jerseys to be autographed and sold to raise money, even though players won’t skate around with them on during warmups.”

So no more vet support jerseys? Great work there. Columbus brings a vet with a standing ovation and one of the vet jerseys they wear every home game. Cancer awareness jersey nights and 4-5 other causes??? Way to screw that up just to avoid pride stuff which is also a great cause. Wow great work.
