With Toffoli and Hanifin stating they won’t be re-signing beyond this season, and them being moved being very likely. Do you think a trade between us and Calgary would make sense?

Yup. Looking forward to the heartwarming story of Nylander returning to his hometown.

Yes, IMO Toffoli should be a top target for our Top 6. Also Backlund is someone I’d be interested in for a bottom 6 role if they are willing to retain.

I think us making at least some deal with Calgary is inevitable as there has to be someone Tre loves that he’d really want for the Leafs.

Toffoli, Hanafin and Lindholm! All 3 LFG

They certainly fill needs, but Nylander (for example) is just as problematic (for them) as what they’re trading out. Is Nylander about to commit to Calgary, after most of their core has left or indicated they plan to leave in the past 12 months?

Calgary is going to want either a bunch of picks, or players/prospects under years of control. So a trade for Toffoli + Hanafin doesn’t look like Nylander, it more likely looks like Knies + Niemela + 1st, or something like that.

I like Noah hanifin, but really depends what Calgary wants for him.

  6. Not sure what the price or how the cap situation would work but if we ignore that for a second I’d be trying to get one of Lindholm, Toffoli or Hanifin.

With Treliving being the GM of the Leafs it’s pretty easy to connect the dots to the Flames.

Blockbuster trade in the works! I hear that it’s Gary Leeman for …. ooops wrong year.

    Backlund and likely lindholm too

Good history between these teams so I’ll be interested in seeing what happens

  10. 100% Tre has already texted conroy “you up.”

It’s gonna be a fun off season.

Toffoli never seems to meet the eye test but he has great advanced stats and seems to elevate everyone around him. I’ve been watching him here in Calgary for a few years and never notice him on the ice but he always puts up great numbers.

I’d be ok if the price was right

I do like a lot of the guys available in Calgary. One question I have though is what is the Calgary GM / President / Ownership like? Is there a chance they would nix allowing their old GM to take some players with him unless it was a fleece? I assume we wouldnt be the only offer.

Which piece is going the other way?

Lindholm is a maybe as well, which I’d personally prefer over Toffoli, since he allows JT to slide to wing.

Problem is the same as always: we can’t afford them.

Tbh, you’d be better off preparing yourself for more bargain bin UFA signings, perhaps a middling depth trade, and a Marlie or two getting a promotion.

That’s what this team has been and continues to be, until further notice.

yes, I’d love Toffoli and he might not be all the expensive all things considered maybe a mid-rounder + nhl filler like Steeves. Hanifin could be pricey as he’s strongly a Top 4, however isn’t a Top 2, so shouldn’t be a serious target unless the deal is right.

    Toffoli, Hanafin, and Zadorov

    For

1st, Murray, Timmins, Voit, Robertson, and Minten

  17. thismadhatter

id rather swing much harder and go after Konecny in Philly.

  18. NonProfitMohammed

Toffoli is an RW. He’s below Marner and Nylander on the depth chart.

    Flames fan here…

Toffoli may make sense for y’all, but I don’t think Hanifin does as we’ll get more value for him if he’s willing to sign an extension somewhere, and I think he wants to be back in the US, which seems to be a thing with players post-COVID as they were extremely isolated from their families during that time.

Hanifin to Buffalo makes the most sense I think as he can play with Dahlin on the top pair. And with Tuch, Cozens & Tage breaking out players like Mittlestadt & Krebs could be made available to improve their backend
