If we’re trading players that don’t fit in our rebuild timeline, Laughton should go- I don’t get how you turn down a 1st and a 2nd for him. Makes no sense.
snark_enterprises
25st…
TyperMcTyperson
He’s driving up the price on a player he doesn’t really need to move and would still get benefit from staying with the team. Not a fumble at all.
HanSolo5643
I would say so. You aren’t going to get much better than this. This team, if it wants to do a proper rebuild, is going to need all the draft capital possible in order to get back on track.
JBOJockstrap
No way this trade is real. It’s so bad for the blues
Evija2021
That’s a whole lotta fists!
grizzmange
I think there’s details omitted from this. It was probably more like a 1st + 2nd + a salary dump player (ie leddy or scandella)
PtAgAu
what if the Blues throw in Jori Lehtera again?
Cautious-Bad662
This doesn’t sound right, what are his reason why he denied the trade? I’m curious
BillsByABillion
If you’re Briere what are you exactly holding out for? A mid 1st? It’s not like he’s Rasmus Ristolainen or something.
GoStlBlues67
Thank god. Philly can keep him. I want our picks.
rider29
25st?
Most_Sort_3638
I don’t get how you can definitively say it’s a bust when we have almost zero details
JoeSchmohawk93
Even if I did think that, I’d wait until pick 24 is on the clock to like, turn it into words
OLPopsAdelphia
No.
I think Laughton is a great asset and someone who consistently showed up when things were crappy.
He’s not only a good asset, but a great example for you get talent on the team.
ImKryptic94
Must have included a cap dump like Scandella/Leddy otherwise saying no makes no sense
ratzy88
No one in their right mind is offering a 1st and 2nd for Laughton. I bet there was a cup dump like another commenter said
Micksar
We don’t know all the details and he could still trade Laughton for this or a similar or better return. Still 6 days left.
Cappedomnivore
Not if he gets an even better deal 🤷♂️
Josh_Smash_
I think Laughton is integral to the team. His vital to the locker room and morale of the team and he is Torts’ guy. While you want to get assets to rebuild, you also want to keep morale up even if you’re losing. You get rid of Laughts, I think it might make the development for Tippett, Cates, etc. More difficult because they don’t have that veteran presence.
topshko_niin
I’d turn down the 25st too… now the 25th, that would pique my interest
McJoe77
I know they said that everyone is available, but I would understand if Laughton was a guy they had too high of a price on so that if someone makes an outrageous overpay you trade him but otherwise you keep him.
I heard a few things during the season about how good he was in the room. Including how he led the team to the media to handle the Provorov/Pride night situation. If he’s the “adult in the room” as they say, maybe Laughton is a guy they keep. SHOULD they have taken a 1st and a 2nd for him? Probably, but is there franchise irreparably damaged by not having the 29th pick in this years draft, no.

Judging by the fact it says “25st”, the source is probably incorrect or omitting crucial details.

It’s still just speculation, so no. But regardless, Briere stated it’s not a fire sale, Laughts is cheap abd has term, he’s a vet that Torts likes, it’s clear he’s a part of the rebuild due to all those factors.
Complex-Tangerine628
No that’s a dub. He’ll get more for him on the draft floor

Short answer, no.

English is tough.
WWDB
No. Not worth a bunch of almost likely useless picks.

25st? Wow.
MadCapMusic
Holding out for the 21th or 24rd picks, i see.
yo_coiley
I’m sure the trades are a first plus some horrible contract. Plus, Laughton is a Coleman/Goodrow type that can be worth a first anyway— I bet there’s a better package out there
leaponover
No, I don’t believe so. He’ll probably carry that same value, possibly more when his contract is further along.

The biggest fumble is “25st”
His biggest fumble was actually by his son
