With so many players wanting out, should the Flames commit to a rebuild?
Jay Onrait was joined by TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado to get his thoughts on the dire situation Flames GM Craig Conroy is facing in Calgary, with many of his top players looking to move on from the team.
As a Flames Im happy they are at least letting management know but its still frustrating. At this point Id say go into rebuild. They have lots of great prospects in the Wranglers to build off of in a few years.
We thought the Flames players hated coach Darryl Sutter so much that they wanted out of Calgary. He’s now gone and so is Brad Treliving so there the objectives of discontentment have been removed yet with a new GM Craig Conroy in place, why are the Core-4 (Backland, Lindholm, Hanifin and Toffoli) still not happy?
Key focus should be on trying to ship out the older guys (Backlund, Toffoli) first, and after that u ship the younger guys but u gotta get good value back if u have to trade em.
At least the gm go a heads up from the player or players that they wanna leave it makes is job extremely difficult ,should take is time and come up with a good plan going forward
The real question is….why are they all running for the door?? That is more pertinent than anything else. This goes back to why Tkachuk and Gaudreau ran away. You gotta start wondering about the ownership…and how they are treating players, as the coach and gm have both been fired.
you all cried for Sutter's head, well there you go, Kadri cost the team 3 games down the stretch, wasn't until Sutter called out his Goaltender that things came together just not soon enough,
Picks picks picks. Trade any aging player wanting out for picks asap. Get some valuable 1st and second round picks in this strong draft, might have to undergo a tough season but will be a good opportunity ro introduce some of the younger guys to the league. Freshest team in the league doesnt sound awful. Fresh roster/coach/gm, along with a new arena on the way GO FLAMES GO
Should never do a complete rebuild, look how long it’s taken the redwings , and Arizona, San Jose , you are talking at least 5 to 8 years of bad hockey oh and Ottawa, and Philly

US and EU players don't want to stay or play in Calgary. Why? You don't really want anything others than canadian players.

It just feels like a lot of players are more interested in playing golf and not paying taxes than playing in a city that really cares about hockey.

Bunting is going to be a mistake to any teams that pays him like he’s a 25 goal scorer as his numbers are definitely inflated
