  1. Remember when Lindholm played for the hurricanes and he was likeable…then he got traded and came back with the flames and mocked the storm surge after the flames beat the canes…..that is when I knew he was a dick

  2. flames fans have been talking about mcdrai leaving for ages, its pure irony and i for one will enjoy rubbing this in

  3. Calgary fans laughed at us Oilers fans for years so I’m not going to say it’s bad it’s what you get with a rivalry. But Calgary loosing so many peace’s I do kinda feel a little bad because as an Oilers fans I’ve been there.

  4. Blow it all up and start again. Couldn't really get worse than it is now. Calgary has always seemed to me where players go to end their careers. Anytime Calgary has a great player, they don't see it and trade them where they go on to do amazing things. Always traded for a player that is of no real value. Then they sign players to huge contracts who then decline immediately. Apart from Iggy and Kipper, and late 80's glory days, it's been frustrating to watch them for at least 40+ years.

  5. Why would Oilers fans be in tears? They were the bottom of the barrel for 10 years before they finally got enough first overall picks to draft McDavid (4 by the way). Who cares what Oilers fans think. I'm looking forward to when the Oilers fail to win the cup in the next 2 years then watch Draisaitl and McDavid walk in UFA. As for the Flames this isn't really a panic setting. The team has a lot of young talent, that we need space for on the Team. I'm gonna miss some of those guys, but if the goal is a cup. Then the Flames should aim for 3-5 years down the road. Do a little retooling and give their young talent experience in the league. Yeah it sucks when you loose your leading goal scorer, but the thing about leading goal scorers is there is always another one. After all who would have thought the only Flame to record a hat trick last year would be Zadorov?

  6. Maybe toxic Flames fans can finally put away the notion that Edmonton is the least desirable destination for NHLers?

But seriously, this is an enormous opportunity for the Flames to shed uncommitted players, start a proper rebuild, and build a better culture. It will be painful (trust us Oil fans, we know) but it is the only way to truly build a potential cup winner.

  7. HAHAHA you just love to see it. Flames up in smoke. Only 1 team belongs in Alberta and it sure as hell isnt the flames.

  8. Definitely not laughing. Alberta is better when both of its NHL teams are competitive. I don't take any glee in this at all.

Also, what goes around comes around. Connor and Leon have contracts expiring soon…

  9. Drop all your talent and sign all the players other teams can't keep because of lack of cap…. treat the Flames like an expansion team. Act like Vegas…gamble and take risks.

  10. None of this is bad news. It's only bad news if Connie gets crap assets for the flakers. Love going to the Caps is like lending him out to a DIFFERENT franchise to get him NHL experience. Coaches last 2-3 years with a team. Let the Caps give him experience in the show and bring him back home.

  11. That reference to putting on the VR headset and pretending to be in Florida had me howling. 😂👍🏼
I’m an Oiler guy but I do hope the fLames sort their 💩 out and have a decent season. Can’t lose to the Caknuckleheads…. #Fk.Van

  12. I think its a good thing. Blow it up and start fresh, bring in a new dynamic.

  13. Lots of teams in the same boat. Not sure where all these players think they are going to find work. Most teams are up against the cap. What team that is close to winning has the cap space to sign all these UFA's coming on the market in the next couple of years. Looks like a bit of collusion on the players side with numerous players not extending. Reminds me of the owners colluding in the past. I think this will backfire on the players. Terms and money will be decreasing since there is no loyalty to the teams or fans anymore. The long terms at top dollar are killing teams chance of putting together a winner no matter how good a player is.

  14. If the Flames flipped all those players and assumed ½ their salaries theyd get a butload of picks and prospects. Theyd still have room to add and could conceivably go after anchors on other teams with short term deals. Ryan Johannson and Matt Duchense come to mind – might even get sweeteners for taking them. Get Nashville to swallow some of their contracts and remain relevant WHILE rebuilding.

Personally, I'd love to be the Flames GM right now. They finally have a fresh canvas to paint with. They could do so much with this opportunity. Dont waste it!

  15. Flames need to decide if they are rebuilding or the risky approach of trying to re-tool. They should rebuild and do it right.

  16. Looking at that title, I thought something bad had happened to the Oilers… You tricked me, you little rascal you!

  17. The only win here is Cap space, but that cap space is useless if no one wants to go there. I'll say it again, if all he gets is draft picks for this year, its a Disaster. Not because it'll be a while for the young players to develop, they might not develop at all. Its the worst draft class in over a decade. He has to get Futures down the line which would mean a REBUILD. I'll throw this out there too, Kylington just has to be quiet, let the others take on the media and he can slip out of Calgary without any strings attached.

  18. I literally don’t see a problem at all with a retool/rebuild. It’s obvious that this group wasn’t working anymore and the Flames missed their window. Better to blow it up now than to ride the mediocrity train for another three years, but that wouldn’t grab headlines so I digress.

  19. With the right moves the flames could potentially turn into a very solid team for a long time. They already have what I think is the hardest piece in a goalie of the future in Wolf

  20. Battle of alberta isn't gonna be the same. It's gonna turn into another MTL Boston lopsided rivalry

  21. We need to go for the full rebuild I think. Cut out the rot get some draft capital and start developing their young talent.

  22. What is happening with the flames will happen with the oilers in a year or two. Their window to win is closing fast. They just have to look at Winnipeg/Boston/NY Rangers and Toronto as teams close to blowing it up. They are not good enough to win and have little cap room to add.

  23. The rebuilding of the Flames was inevitable. They should have done a rebuild three years ago but went with Sutter. Guess this will be a rebuilding done the hard way.

  24. Could this be downstream of what I consider to be a very odd choice – bringing Sutter back?

Oh and as an Oilers fan: lower case “hahah”

  25. I cheer for all the Canadian teams, Calgary included. As an Oilers fan, I cheered for Calgary in 86 (yes, despite what happened), 89, and was heartbroken in 04. No way I'm laughing.

  26. Who cares what oiler fans think. They're more of an embarrassment than the flames considering all those #1's and top tens, and still not much better record than the flames, who have had none of those luxuries.

  27. us oilers fans were in darkness for about 11 years… i think flames fans will be fine

  28. Pretty sure a lot of Flames fans laughed at the Oilers fans, along side everyother NHL fan base when we had how many top picks and zero success lol

Hell as an Oilers fan I was doing the same thing! But don't worry Flames fans, things will get better….eventually. Just hope this team bounces back faster than the Oilers did! Plus we need more Battle of Alberta playoffs so they need to get back in this and fast.

  29. Oilers fan here. They said the Flames were done after Tkachuk and Gudreau left but managed to not have a bottom dweller team last year. They were neither bad or great and close in many 1 goal games. Dont underestimate any team.

  30. Craig Conroy has his work cut out for him, jeez. At least he's the kinda guy that can handle it, time to rebuild in Calgary anyway. Johnny, Monahan, and Tkachuk are gone, start it over

  31. Ha!……I laugh at the Oilers every time they waste another year of McDavid’s career.

  32. The flames had a brutal last year and it’s not hard to notice that, but is everyone forgetting that this team missed the playoffs by like a point? Considering how bad everything went they still as most managed to sneak in
