Bennett hit on Slavin – Have your say!

Sam Bennett ran over Jaccob Slavin at the side of the net. Slavin left the game with an injury. Bennett was not assessed a penalty. Clean or dirty? Have your say!

  1. It looked like a clean check to me. I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts!

  2. This is a tough call. I see some head to head contact but the principle point looks to be through the body. Minor for boarding?

  3. by rules clean. However Bennet is dirty and intended to injure. More and more of these hits and dirty play happen in this nhl. Bring back enforcers for the protection of the players.

  4. I remember hockey in simpler times when a hit like that inspired a serious shit-kicking. Bennett's just a simple-minded ape but why hasn't someone kicked his ass?

  5. Bennett's a rat, pure & simple, but that appears to be a 'clean' hit. Slavin had the puck & the primary point of contact looked to be Slavin's chest, so technically a legal hit.

  6. Definitely a clean hit, have seen Panthers fans complain about charging for less though so it's definitely not getting a pass.

  7. I don’t see how you can say it’s anything but a textbook hockey check. The puck is there, it’s not late whatsoever and he didn’t leave his feet. Listen injuries happen on clean plays sometimes it’s unfortunate but the health of the player doesn’t determine if it’s an offense or not. 🤷‍♂️

  8. Left shoulder to the head and left elbow action. Evidently that's not a penalty. Bennet is a cup overflowing with human goodness. The refs are always right.

  9. When you get the chance to level one of the opponents best players you take it. It’s part of the game. Clean ,legal hit. Boohoo to all you canes fans.

  10. Bennett is a dirty player. It's one thing to go on with a good body check. It's entirely another to go in with the intention of causing injury. His body language and follow through says it all.

  11. It was a 'clean hit to the head' – that's why Slavin went woozy. You can see Bennett rise up to deliver the hit, his shoulder contacts Slavin's jaw area. But there was no elbow, and Bennett didn't take strides (i.e. charge) beforehand. I don't blame the refs for not calling a hit to the head because it looked clean all the way. Only in slo mo & replay can you see what happened. Unlike the WWF incident with Knies …everyone saw that except the ref who was standing right there…

  12. It’s hard for me to believe the intention was anything other than injury. This kind of hit should result in multi-game suspension.

  13. You can the boy out of Junior 'b', but you can't take junior 'b' out of the boy. Couldn't stand Bennett when he was in Calgary, don't mind him or Chuk now. Kind of rooting for Florida just because of Bob.
