The absolute lack of self awareness is astonishing. The league did not cave into a bunch of bigots, they caved into you. YOU told the league that pride nights were a problem because it only had 95% participation. And the NHL dealt with the problem by getting rid of it. What else were they going to do about it? have the players sit out? Then you would have been running stories about how the players are so bigoted that they would rather not play hockey then wear the jersey. This was not like bud light, or target, where it was the bigots causing the problem, this was all you (and the other media and fans who said that this was unacceptable). They didn't take the toys away because one child misbehaved. They took the toys away because everyone else cried that the one kid wouldn't play with them. Every single inclusion night became focused on exclusion, through the excoriation that the media and fans put them through.
And a second thing, just cause I've heard it so many times and I'm already writing a comment. Do you really believe that the statement "I don't believe the baker should have baked that cake, nor that same sex marriage should be recognized by the state, and I believe that sex between members of the same sex is immoral and I support PRIDE!" is not contradictory? You keep saying that the pride jerseys just mean acknowledging that gays exist, so does pride not mean any of those other things? Pride is not about the legalization of same sex marriage to you guys?! really?

Adam I think it wasnt just the 6 guys that forced the change but the MEEEEEDIA aswell. All anyone in the hockey world was talking about was the 6 guys. The media let the 6 guys be the face of pride month. Media is outrage driven and if such a small fraction is against pride night that means you have a large faction that can be outraged and get the most fan interactions on their posts, arguements in the comments which drive up their engagement and leads to overshadowing the actual event itself. Sure the 6 guys being against it might have been the starting point but it also could have ended there if everyone ignored them.

I'm not that much older than these guys, but in high school, I was listening to Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin. Bands who started before I was born and many who had broken up before I was in my teens.
1:24:00 … Connor Garland is an underrated player. He got 46 points with ZERO PP time and drew 17 more penalties than he took. His first season with the Canucks, he was playing so well that he made the OEL trade worth it. Then he slipped a spot in the depth chart and now he needs to find a new home. If the Leafs can give up a 3rd line centre and a second / third-pair defenceman, they I think both teams would be happy.

If the League tries to move away from 50/50 the fans will turn on the NHL. If the NHLPA tried to go up from 50/50 the fans would turn on the players. Why? Because 50/50 is, in the minds of most people, totally fair.
1:27:00 … OEL's footspeed is GONE. G. O. N. E. GONE! He has the worst goal differential on the Canucks last year and was nearly 20 goals below expected goal differential. The Canucks got notably better when he broke his leg near the end of the season. His expected value next year is just $800,000. If he gets above league min, the Canucks should get a discount on their cap hit.

I used to hate the way they do the NBA draft if a player is traded. But maybe it's because of NBA teams being less trusting of other NBA teams if they wanna trade back? If #10 is trading with #15, then the team with #10 will ask "we'll give you our pick, but you gotta tell us who you're drafting because we want X player." NHL teams are so trusting of each other and afraid to ruin their Boys Club that they can get away with it. But maybe NBA teams are less trusting.

As a real Kansas state fan (K-State wildcats) I can tell you that he played for Kansas university (the KU Jayhawks) I had to say this because the Jayhawks are our rivals. Adam brining up the Nika riots is awesome. Also the comissioner works for the owners, don't make the mistake of assuming that the next guy won't also behave at their behest.
if it were up to me, not only would the jerseys be mandatory if you're dressing for the game, they wouldn't just be warm ups, they'd be worm for the entire game, and the NHL would match the auction price that they sold for as donations to benefit indigenous communities, veterans groups, LGBTQA+ charities, whatever the event is for that night. THAT is how you make a statement that hockey is for everyone and that bigots can cry all day and night but they're not pushing anyone out.
