  1. Kudo's to the VGK's! If you're a fan going to the parade, don't spill any of your Bud Lites out of those mini cups, and always keep one eye peeled on the rooftops…

  2. the only situation I can think of where the non renewal of a contract would not mean to be fired, would be if before signing that contract it was clear there was no possibility of a renewal, and you agree to it. Something I did in the past. It was clear it was for x amount of time and after that it is over. Didn't feel fired as it was determined before I started.

  3. At the end of a contract, you are only fired if someone else is going to be doing that job after. Sometimes the work is just done and end of contract.

  4. But hold on, he said he “wouldn’t show up somewhere else”

Implying that if they didn’t resign him he’d take a year off.

But he is signing somewhere else because he was “fired” ?

Like what did he mean by the original statement then? Because there’s only two options, resign or leave.

  5. DeBrincat (for whatever reason) has looked ready to leave Ottawa since they landed him.

Maybe w/ new ownership and a likely move to Kanata that changes.

  6. They didn’t fire Dubas , they just told him to empty his office of all personal items, kick rocks and never darken the doorstep of MLSE ever again!😂

  7. I think the confusion arises because usually GMs or coaches get fired while there's still time left on their contract and so the team still has to pay them or buy them out.

As far as I know, it's fairly rare in major sports for somebody in a coaching or upper management job to just run out their contract. Usually, they get an extension at least a year before the old contract runs out. Organizations want to at least create the illusion of stability, otherwise everyone starts looking for a new job.

  8. I think arbitration is fair for both sides. It allows DeBrincat a chance to prove he is a 40 goal scorer with Norris as his centre. And from the Sens side they can save 1-1.5 million off the cap which I think is more than fair based on DeBrincat's previous season showing. Plus if Cat likes the new ownership group he can sign an extension in January long-term or go open market if he does not like how the new ownership group is directing the team.

It's a win-win both sides and odds are they will come to an agreement before arbitration.

  9. Both Price and Weber gave up the rest of their careers playing injured to keep the Montreal Canadiens' Stanley Cup run alive.

  10. Not renewing the contract means let go (same as fired). Some need to understand that

  11. THG missed the news that North Carolina legalized sports gambling and that the Hurricanes said they'd use this as an opportunity to create betting venues around the arena.

  12. St-Louis said of Gurianov when he came in : we'll let him prove us his worth, he's getting a fresh start here.
He got 8 points in 23 games in a half-empty habs roster, didn't help him or the team at all. goodbye

  13. When the owner says “we’re making changes in your department “….
And you’re the only one IN your department….
    I think you are fired.

  14. I am beyond Happy to see Montreal not bringing back Gurianov. He did not fit the habs or Montreal and glad he will be gone.

  15. I wouldn't call it fired if it were a player but the difference is that there's a presumption of extension for a GM and not really a presumption for a player

  16. So when Dale Tallon and the Panthers agreed to part way at the end of his contract did he quit or was he fired?

And feeling like you got fired and being fired are 2 different things.

Once his contract was up, he no longer worked for the team. You can't be fired from a job you don't have.

I'll put it this way. If you hire a guy to tile your bathroom, did you fire him when he was finished because you didn't offer him a contract to tile your kitchen? No. You hired him to do a job when he was finished he no longer had a job to be fired from.

  17. Another good vid would be details about the arbitration process and rules, and some examples from the past few years that went through arbitration, why, what the results were, etc

  18. Dorion playimg hard ball! It's good to see all aspects of the CBA being exploited by both parties!!!

  19. Shanahan knew Dubas was going to ask for more money. His worst trade was Kadri and yet somehow Kerfoot won them a round.

Iginla is back with the Flames so go Kadri🏆Kessel🏆🏆🏆

  20. If your contract is not renewed you are being let go. If your still active contract is being terminated, you are fired. So yes, there is a big difference. You might indeed feel fired if you do not get renewed after your current contract ran out, but that does not make it correct.

  21. Wouldn't be surprised if Gurianov re-signs with Montreal on July 4th. My guess is it's another Rem Pitlick situation where we don't qualify him just to immediately re-sign him once Free Agency opens up, my guess would be 1.25mil x 1yr on a try-out basically.

  22. We are driving down from Idaho with the entire family to go the parade. Gonna be awesome on the strip on a Saturday Night!

  23. No renewal of contract is simply no renewal of contract isn’t it?

Firing would be removal of person who is under a contract. I guess it depends on how you look at “fired”. You could call it let go of, or a mutual understanding based upon a predetermined date agreed upon by both parties, and just a non renewal of future work.

By the end of the video I’m seeing your point but I think it may just be one of those things like that gold and white dress where some people saw it white and gold and others saw it as blue and black. Maybe I’m off.

    All the best!!

  24. Anyone saying Getting fired is different from not having your contract renewed probably never had to do temp work

  25. I could see us gunning for Gurianov in FA. He’s the pure goal-scorer that the Isles desperately need.

  26. ekblad has surgery every season. dudes kinda made of glass. very strong glass.

  27. If you end up watching the parade, we need a serious parade recap video. I would love it.

  28. OMG what a beautiful jersey. That’s all business. I think that should be their home jersey. The red can be their third.

  29. Keep Ekblad on LTIR. Let’s finally benefit from this system after the past 3 years straight of being knocked out by a team way over the cap.
