  1. From Florida here. Tampa bay lightning fan. I’m rooting for The panthers I’d like to see cup back here in Florida again 3 out of last 4 years

  2. No dog in the fight here just a guy watching hockey. But This should be an epic series. Too close to call either way should be really fun to watch

  3. Canes fan here… I understood what you were getting at with the 'unlikely' comment… Losing Patches… Losing Svech… Doing very little at the trade deadline (which I actually agreed with, as it did not interrupt our exceptional team chemistry)… The fact that we limped into the playoffs on the back of an 13-10-1 March/April (basically the time since we lost Svech), was enough to scare me for what the playoffs had in store… Our game was off, our goaltending was off, and as a fan who watched every single game, I could just tell something felt different than it did during our Oct-Feb stretch… With all due respect to Boston, that stretch absolutely magical hockey… We essentially kept up with Boston point for point from November to February, and the Metro was never really in question… Then the trade deadline passed… I don't know if it's that Waddell didn't want to pay a high price, or if he simply liked the team as it was, not wanting to upset chemistry… Fans didn't like the moves, but in the end Don was right.. most of those teams that dropped insane capital on rentals are now watching from home… Don was right…

So before I stray too far off topic, I did understand your 'unlikely' comment given our entire scenario… What I don't understand is the continued disrespect (primarily from the national media) that fail to give the Canes the proper props they deserve… We had 5-1, 6-1 and 6-1 wins against an AMAZING NJ Devils team… but the media constantly talked about how the Devils got away from their game… it was never about Carolina NOT LETTING THEM play their game… Taking NOTHING away from NJ (or the Islanders for that matter), this Canes team imposed their will on those games, and that's why the Devils lost… NOT because the moment was too big for them… Not because Ruff played the wrong goaltender…

We may not win the Cup.. We may not beat Florida… But it's high time the media sat up and took stock of the fact we have a very deep team, with exceptional chemistry and (in my biased opinion) the best coach in the game… and while they may call us a small market team, I challenge them to take a look at our attendance numbers, and where we rank (spoiler, we're 2nd overall in average attendance)…

Bottom line, this is a fun team to watch (with a genius PR department by the way!), that brings it HARD every single night…

And Florida…. I can't wish you luck obviously, but you've done an AMAZING job getting here! Ain't nobody calling out "We want Florida" now, eh?!?! Good job!

  4. I was saying to my friends, “it’s gonna be weird seeing panthers or canes in the finals” but the more I watch the more I am super siked

  5. I’m a shark fan so I have no dog in this fight. Fight it will be as both teams play very rough id say 51% to the Panthers but won’t be surprised if it’s Carolina

  6. After watching this video, I’m curious as to know if you didn’t realize that the Carolina Hurricanes had the second best regular season record. They pretty much led the Metropolitan Division all year. And they were among the top picks to win the Stanley Cup playoffs throughout the year. I don’t know how they have slipped under the radar.

They have certainly been better than the Rangers and Toronto all year.

You also can’t look past the Panthers either, while they were the last wildcard in, you are looking at the best record from last season. They are no slouch. Their year got off to a rough start with some coaching changes. But they have found their way in the back half of the season and are certainly peaking at the right team with a very talented team.

  7. Since when is the 2nd team in the league and consistent playoff presense "unlikely"??? This is a laughable take. Should he a good series but come on now. The disrespect is real.

  8. Soflo in the house. Well well Hurricanes here we go. I am ready for this dance.

  9. This is so reminiscent of 2006 when everyone was high on Buffalo and was explaining how Carolina couldn’t get past them. Brind’Amour is the captain of this ship. In Rod, they and we trust.

  10. Canes have taken out NY Islanders and NJ Devils on the other hand the Panther's have shocked the hockey world and their fans for that matter and have taken out #1 Bruins and #2? Leaf's (in 5 could have been 4 games)….. enough said. Said Panther's fan.

  11. First time watcher… I almost turned it off when you said it's the Canes chance to go to the finals for the 2nd time ever….

  12. The Canes have one of the best defenses in the last 10 years. If their D breaks down, the Canes are toast. If their D hold up and they get even half the scoring depth from the last series, they lift the cup.

  13. Gudas didn't yell towards him, it was the angle of the picture that makes it look like that, the video shows a completely different story. Yall are just a bunch of bud light drinkin cry baby canadians.

  14. You know what makes me mad right from the start you said two unlikely teams to make it to the eastern conference finals. Yet Carolina has won 3 divisions in a row, has made it to the playoffs the last 5 years. Just because they are a small market team with no “big name” players, they are automatically not suppose to be there. The media already doesn’t give them a shot, yet they are literally have been the most consistent team in the east. Yea I’m a canes fan, but they need to be looked at as a great team these past few years. As for the panthers they won the president trophy last year. They might have a little struggle this year…. But to say unlikely to be there. This is probably going to be the most fun game to watch so far in this years playoffs. Don’t tone it done.

  15. Well Carolina won 2 games with Florida but Bob wasn’t on the net. This could be challenging for the canes. Experts thinked Toronto would take out Florida but predictions don’t come as expected. They took down 2 teams with the toughest Defenses.

  16. As long as Duclair can stake with confidence and limit turnovers, I like the panthers here. Lomberg has the potential to be inserted back into that bottom line only making the panthers more dangerous. Very interesting matchup going into game 1. Carolina has gotten a lot of production across the board this playoffs.

  17. Turbo will be back for this series and the canes have everyone playing at 110% and I can't count them out this team proved me dead wrong I had 15-21 people on YT telling me I'm just being pessimistic and a doomer every time I said that they would lose in 7 2nd round so I can't count them out. With Florida I never counted them out I actually picked them to win in 7 against Boston in my bracket and I have picture evidence lol and same thing I had 50 people saying:" tf? You smoking weed or smth ur bracket is dead lmao." So idk this series will be interesting but I do think that maybe Carolina comes out with the W but this is probably going to 6 or 7 imo. Canes are impossible to beat in their arena they only lost to the Isles in their barn cus I think they underestimated Sorokin and they have home Ice so who knows.

  18. Bold statement, but I'd say the winner of this series goes all the way. Two teams with brick walls in net and can score. Carolina has the better D line and special teams so objectively I'd take Canes but idk…there's something about the cats this year. They refuse to lose. Can't wait for this one!

  19. Panthers are rolling but so are the steady Canes. But there's just something about the roll that the Panthers are on.

  20. The Staal Brothers Stanley Cup Championships

    2006 – Eric Staal – Carolina Hurricanes
    2009 – Jordan Staal – Pittsburgh Penguins

    Marc Staal – None

Eric Staal and Rod Brind'Amour were teammates on the Carolina Hurricanes' 2006 Stanley Cup championship. They were teammates for 6 seasons (2003-2010). 2004-2005 was the lockout.

  21. TWO UNLIKELY TEAMS? I'M SURE YOU THOUGHT THE #1 TEAM IN THE LEAGUE (BOSTON) WAS GOING TO WIN IT ALL BUT THE #2 IS AN UNLIKELY CONTENDER? YOUR BIAS IS SHOWING….

  22. I got Florida winning this series. Canes are fast as fck but Florida is agressive as fck. I think they are going to rattle the canes with heavy hitting and just beat ‘em down to the buzzer in 5 or 6 games

  23. We love the Panthers down here. They don’t have the following of the Dolphins, but hockey is coming on strong in Florida. Many of us older fans would rather be inside a nice cool arena than out in the blazing hot sun. 🙂 The Panther organization is top notch and the players love Florida. We love the physicality of Bennett and Gudas!

  24. Bennett and Gudas will do to the Hurricanes what they did to the Bruins and Maple Leafs. They will send them home bruised, battered, missing teeth, and without a soul. I don’t know if you guys have been seeing the hits that Gudas and Bennett have been putting on people, but they are absolutely bone crushing checks. The refs are letting all kinds of stuff go, so it plays right into their hands. I saw Bennett cross-check a guy in the neck, and then cross-check him in the spine after he fell on all fours. Gudas checked a Leaf so hard into the boards that he bounced off and Gudas checked him again during his fall to the ice. A few of their hits have been felonious. Crazed hyenas. And Paul Maurice has a crazy side to him too. These guys are hard core, so get ready….there will be blood.
