Jack Rathbone signs entry-level contract with the Canucks (Vancouver Canucks VLOG)

The Canucks have signed Jack Rathbone to a three year entry-level deal. Rathbone will “burn” one year of this contract; thus this contract will expire at the end of the 2021-22 season.

  1. This is very exciting, as we've locked down one of our top defensive prospects, who's an actual legitimate top 4 upside defenseman. This kid, and the potential he has, if actualized could make the difference needed as we face a cap crunch, making it possible to lose a defenseman and still carry on, maybe even better. Having him, Rafferty and Juolevi, give us a few guys in the stable to hopefully replenish the ranks as we transition from Edler and Tanev. We also have Chatfield, Sautner, and Brisebois who can challenge for that all important 6/7 spot on the blueline. With Petterson and Hughes coming up for new contracts, having some young talent on ELC's will be a real help.

  2. That awesome. Stecher might not be signed this fall. with Rathbone signed & Rafferty probably making the team next season. I love how Tanev plays but he to Injury Prone for the Contract that he probably wants

  3. Great news. Nothing to lose. Vancouver is desperate for D. My instinct is he’ll go down to Utica and get called up. Smart kid.

  4. Well Stecher just become expandable. Maybe not next year but definitely in the near future.

  5. He will still play one year with Utica. 2020-21 will be Edler, Myers, Stecher, Hughes, Rafferty, Tryamkin, Juolevi and Fantenburg. Next year when Edler’s contract expires you will see Rathbone and maybe Jet Woo.

  6. Good news. I'm excited to see Rathbone show his stuff. I hear more and more about Rathbone and what he can bring to the Canucks. Thanks for posting, Clay!
